Reviews Summary
Anna Maria Trattoria is celebrated for its authentic Bolognese cuisine, particularly its fresh pasta dishes like tagliatelle al ragù and its exceptional tiramisu. Diners appreciate the warm, traditional ambiance and friendly service that makes them feel like family. However, some reviews note inconsistency in food quality, with occasional complaints about cold or disappointing dishes, and one review mentioned a messy kitchen.
"I had the pleasure of dining at Anna Maria Trattoria in Bologna for lunch. The food was good, with dishes that were both enjoyable and satisfying. While I found lunch to be adequate overall, the atmosphere truly captured the essence of a typical Bologna afternoon. The restaurant offers a selection of wines, including the unique option of "wines on tap," which is quite common in Italy. The service was very good, contributing to a pleasant and relaxed dining experience. If you're looking for a nice spot to enjoy a casual meal in Bologna, this is a solid choice."

"Old school neighbourhood place. Good friendly service. Fresh salad and delicious pasta.
Desserts not fresh, sadly."
Kathleen Potts
"The people were very friendly and helped us about the Italian menu and made us understand the food. The place is like full of Italian so it’s obvious that the place is local people’s choice.
We ordered the bistecca, gnocchi, salad and some baked potatoes and really enjoyed the taste. The white house wine was great. And I think the star of this restaurant was the tiramisu. Easily one of the best ones I’ve ever had.
Btw I really like the service tray that was full of drinks, I couldn’t help but took a picture of it 😂"

The formidable Signora Anna Maria has been serving traditional dishes of the Emilia Romagna region for over 30 years and her trattoria is on every ‘must visit’ list. Anna Maria’s delicious Tagliatelle al ragù had a light meat sauce punctuated with soft carrots and thin ribbons of fresh pasta and was very generously-sized.

Bologna, Italy - Principia Gastronomica
The second time around, I wanted to be a bit more prepared, so I scoured the web to find out where Bologna’s foodies were eating these days. As it turned out, most of the same names kept coming up: Da Gianni, Anna Maria, Meloncello. Remembering the near misses of the last trip, it seemed prudent to make reservations, so after much debate and consideration, we decided to try Da Gianni again on our first night and the highly praised Caminetto d’Oro on our second.
