Reviews Summary

Sfoglia Rina is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh, handmade pasta and authentic Italian flavors, with dishes like lasagna and tortellini receiving high praise. While many appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and efficient service, some diners have experienced long waits and found certain dishes to be less impressive. The restaurant's concept of showcasing pasta-making further enhances the dining experience for many.

"There was a waiting line outside but it was fast to move. I think we waited for less than 10 minutes to be seated. There is a huge table inside, if you dont mind sharing with others, you can sit there.

Pretty interesting concept as we had to see the menu and write down our own order and then pass to the waiters.

Food was delicious and atmosphere is really nice. Would definitely recommend."

"The food was a decent price, the portions were large enough for leftovers, the service was generally well-streamlined and clearly the employees worked well as a team.

But the flavor. Wow! The lasagna in particular was some of the best lasagna we’ve had!

Definitively recommend this place. Plus, their cola zero was an Italian brand and we prefer that.

The restaurant was full of locals but they were clearly used to tourists, as well. It’s obviously a must for everyone."

J L

"Good place for pasta, some dishes I liked some dishes I didn't, The lasagna stood out it was very good dish and their tortellini stuffed with cheese and sage was amazing. I didn't care for tagliatelle Bolognese( in my opinion it needed a little more cooking and better mixture with the sauce, they didn't have Harmony together). The yogurt and the green beans was unnecessary edition It was very plain It didn't add anything to there combination.

Overall it was a good experience. Usually the wait in line average about 30 to 40 minutes."

Restaurants in Emilia–Romagna

The pastaio (pasta-maker) tradition in this bright honeycomb tiled pasta shop and restaurant—which often has a line around the block—started nearly 60 years ago in a town about 9½ km (6 miles) southwest of Bologna. There, Rina De Franceschi rolled sfoglia (dough) following family recipes. Take a seat at one of the communal wooden tables to try regional specialties like tortellini in brodo and tagliatelle al ragù (pasta with meat sauce), as well as a weekly seasonal menu with often vegetarian takes on classics, like mezzelune rose ripiene di ceci, kale, e noci (red half moon-shape pasta filled with garbanzo beans, kale, and hazelnuts).

What to eat and drink in Bologna

If you have never been to Bologna before, head straight to Sfoglia Rina and get in line (arrive early – there's no reservations). The fresh pasta at this suburban transplant (it began in 1963 in nearby Casalecchio di Reno) is sublime. It's a wonderful spot to wrap your head around all that Bologna is famed for (tagliatelle, tortellini, tortelloni) along with weekly-changing creative takes.

What & Where to Eat in Bologna

This is one of the best restaurants in Bologna for a combination of both traditional favorites and inventive new dishes. The restaurant’s name derives from the term “sfoglina,” a woman who expertly makes pasta by hand, and Rina, the actual sfoglina who started her own pasta company in Bologna back in 1963. Rina’s pasta-making prowess led to continual growth, and in the early 2000s, her descendants decided to start a restaurant next to the pasta works so that customers could enjoy the freshest pasta in a casual setting that more resembles a grandma’s kitchen than a flashy restaurant.
