What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the exceptional food, particularly the regional specialties like pumpkin cappellacci and the high-quality grilled meats. The warm, personal interaction with Chef Giovanni and the cozy atmosphere are frequently praised, creating a memorable and authentic Italian dining experience. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, occasional mentions of busy periods are noted, underscoring the restaurant's popularity.
"Fantastic dinner - well worth the short walk from the centre. The menu has plenty of options with lots of regional specialties including four types of cappellacci di zucca, the Ferrara pasta hats stuffed with pumpkin. We had them with duck ragu and slices of fresh truffle - to die for. We also enjoyed tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, an aubergine, tomato and basil starter and a tagliata of beef with rocket and grana served with grilled polenta that was delicious (As an Argentinian, I am not easily impressed). We finished off with a very nice pistachio semifreddo and washed the lot down with their very drinkable house wine which is served by the glass or in carafes. Service was good especially the warm welcome from the chef who took time to explain the dishes to us. We really enjoyed the meal and will definitely be back next time we are in Ferrara. A must if you are nearby."

"I have nothing but amazing things to say about Chef Giovanni and his restaurant. It is my last night Ferrara and I had to go back one last time. My husband and I had the Salame “da pentola” and the Bigoli al torchio carbonara e tartufo and they were so unique and so delicious, you can tell how much love and care goes into this food. We also had the tenerina cake and mascarpone and it was a melt in your mouth slice of heaven. The chef and everyone else working there are absolutely delightful as well and very accommodating to someone with as little Italian as I do. If you get the chance go visit Chef Giovanni and his little friend Remi!"

Where to eat typical pumpkin cappellacci in Ferrara. The best 8 restaurants chosen by Gambero Rosso
A precious address, ideal for an informal stopover in the name of conviviality and taste. The (seasonal) menu focuses mainly on three elements: polenta (with salama da sugo, wild boar ragù, cod, ragù, and Parmesan, etc.), grilled meats (ribs, fillets, cuts), and finally, but by no means least, the typical cappellacci (in dialect "caplaz") with one more delicious topping than the other (even "in the style of Igles Corelli") and cappelletti (caplit) in broth or with black garlic from Voghiera. The typical macaroni pie is also present.
