Reviews Summary
Dalla Lola offers a unique and creative take on Tuscan cuisine in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, praised for its innovative dishes and friendly service. While many rave about the surprising flavor combinations and affordable prices, a few patrons have noted issues with portion size and occasional slow service. Despite minor critiques, it's a highly recommended spot for those seeking an authentic yet adventurous Florentine dining experience.
"Without a doubt one of the best meals I had in Florence. While there are numerous places to try traditional Tuscan fare like the bisteccas, Dalla Lola's take is a rare delight in a city eager to please a constant deluge of tourists. The humble Gnocchi here is served with beetroot carpaccio and a miso sauce, a trio you're unlikely to spot in a place together. The fried pork chop was juicy and succulent; the breading seasoned just right to tantalize the tastebuds by itself, and also acted as a willing sponge for the tomato sauce. Finished the meal with their coffee cake with mascarpone and it was scrumptious too.
Dalla Lola's ambience is excellent too. It is tucked away in the delightful Santo Spirito neighbourhood, away from the chaos of the city center, a chilled out, relaxed atmosphere made all the more amazing by a genial and attentive staff. The owners seem like genuinely wonderful people, and the food they're dishing out pays reverence to tradition, while also daring to be different. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a lovely eating experience. Please do note that reservations help MASSIVELY, because they're only open for a couple of hours in the morning/afternoon and the evening."

"easy, informal spot with a lot of non-traditional options (dropped in for lunch on a weekday). the owner (i think she is the owner?) was very helpful, attentive and warm. kind of a place where there is an immediate level of sincerity and connection either customers. one would be a regular as a resident. anchovy pasta was great and I had a heavenly lemon cake that was off menu and available for the day."

"If you see my previous previews and how much I value good & local food, there is not much to say. Go to Dalla Lola. She and her team made my day. I should have not let her encourage me to get the cheese cake, it was truly impeccable yet i skipped the dinner after having tasted 4 dishes :))))"

17 of the best places to eat in Florence
Budget dining it might be, but there's nothing scant or stuffy about this upcycled neighborhood eatery – old-school vintage in look, mischievously new-gen in vibe. Spirited young owner Matilde Pettini practically grew up in the kitchen at her family's veteran Trattoria Cammillo, and the cheeky spin she casts on trippa finta ("fake tripe," which is actually eggs), gluten-free desserts and forgotten Tuscan dishes like frogs legs and chicken hearts in her own trattoria is simply brilliant.
4 Female Entrepreneurs in the Florentine Food Scene
In September of 2019 she took over restaurant Dalla Lola in Via della Chiesa 16/r from a failing management, after graduating from the Cordon Bleu School of CulinaryArts in Florence and after working with her mother, Maria Chiara Masiero, at their family’srestaurant Trattoria Cammillo–one ofFlorence’s most beloved restaurants for decades, also featured in the abovementioned 20th century guidebook back whenl’uomo was Pettini’s grandfather Bruno Masiero. “He was a great entrepreneur,” says Pettini, “but we can thank my grandmother Diva for the foods and flavors. I’m very protective of the culinary culture I inherited from my mother and grandparents, and I hold and respect tradition more than it may seem: this allows me to change it as I wish, and to create always new and stimulating dishes.
Where To Eat & Drink In Florence
Just around the corner from Santo Spirito in an unassuming stone building that blends into the rest of the street, but Matilde Pettini’s Dalla Lola is one of the best restaurants in Florence. With her menu on a piano stand, Pettini practically dances around the tight dining room unloading arms full of dishes rooted in Florentine classics. As the fourth generation of the family behind Trattoria Cammillo, Pettini’s flavors at Dalla Lola are inspired by the history of the region, but rebel against the confines of the cuisine.
Eat, Drink, & Be Merry: Tips From a Local
Dalla Lola is the new spot in town (or should I say revamp of historic location) that showcases Tuscan options that aren’t simply what everyone thinks (ie: STEAK) on Via della Chiesa, 16r. Matilde Pettini took over the space and has added really interesting menu options like fried brain, gnocchi, francesina di lingua, stewed chopped beef tongue with thinly sliced caramelized onions. Many of my friends have been and love it so this is high on my list of places to try when we come back to visit this April.
Where to Eat in Florence, Italy: 25+ Best Restaurants, Cafes, Bars, & More
Dalla Lola – A refreshing twist on traditional Tuscan cuisine, this restaurant is led by Matilde Pettini, part of the Trattoria Cammillo family. The daily-changing menu is handwritten on large piece of brown paper and brought to your table, where the waiter explains each dish in detail. We started with a beetroot appetizer, followed by miso gnocchi and pumpkin sausage tagliatelle for our first courses.
