Reviews Summary

Il Santino is celebrated for its intimate, cozy atmosphere and its impressive selection of Italian and Tuscan wines. Diners rave about the delicious, expertly prepared small plates, particularly the charcuterie and cheese platters. While the small space can lead to crowded conditions and longer waits, especially on weekends, the quality of food, wine, and the overall authentic Florentine vibe make it a highly recommended spot.

"Great little spot with wonderful wine and great salami, prosciutto and cheese, along with prepared food like eggplant parm. Nice atmosphere with a mix of tourists and locals wandering in with their dogs for a quick sandwich or glass of wine at the counter. More seating than immediately apparent thanks to a decent sized back room."

David Lyle

"A very cozy and stylish wine bar in Florence! You can sit both indoors and outdoors.
There’s a great selection of wines and snacks, nice atmosphere and beautiful flowers! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!"

Olga Voitiuk

"We stopped by this place on our way home because the atmosphere felt so inviting. It was buzzing with locals and the vibe was amazing! We were even treated to two complimentary small dishes. A wonderful, authentic moment in a little bar in Florence!"

The Infatuation

The 22 Best Restaurants In Florence - Florence

You’re in Italy, so of course you need somewhere for pre-dinner drinks and snacks. This former wine cellar turned wine bar in Oltrarno is your spot. The space inside might be limited, but it never feels too overcrowded, and it's about as fun and sceney as Florence gets—couples nudge their way to first base in the corner, and locals spill out of the cave-like dining room into the street, glasses in hand, when there’s no more room.

Where to drink wine and enotecas in Florence, Italy

Il Santino- Another small wine nook in the Oltrarno, I enjoy this cave-like atmosphere, the laid-back energy and the snacks to pair (hand-cut prosciutto on artisanal bread slices from their near-by bakery ‘Sforno, burrata and anchovy plates, etc.) Wines here are always a surprise, consistently rotating from boutique Italian producers and I’ve never been disappointed with the service nor quality experienced at Il Santino. It’s my preferred spot to treat myself to a glass and a read on a weekend afternoon before the 6pm crowd starts to pile in. Nightlife in Florence Italy, from Artist's Bars to Hidden Bakeries

From whiskey to wine, Il Santino Bevitore is fuss-free, classic “enoteca” (that’s wine bar in Italian), epitomizing the meaning of one. Closing up shop just before midnight, enjoy a couple of glasses of vino before or after your dinner plans, or if you’ve had a massive lunch, it’s also a wonderful option for the night to wine and dine on crudo boards (cold meats and cheese), breads, tartare, and excellent-quality white and reds. Grab a table inside, or do it the quintessential Italian way, sitting at one of the tiny tables on the curbside, right up against the wall.

My Favorite Bars & Clubs in Florence

+39 055 230 2820 The top wine bar in the city, Il Santino offers an impressive wine selection alongside freshly cut Tuscan cured meats, marinated veggies, and cheeses from Italy and across Europe (and marmalades to perfectly pair with). All wines by the glass are served with a free snack, usually a crostini with pate. This is an incredibly popular spot for aperitivo, pre-dinner drinks and snacks, though the food is so amazing here, from the pappa al pomodoro to the steak tartare, you might just eat here and skip dinner altogether.

Il Santino, a cosy wine bar in central Florence, is located in the Oltrarno district, on the other side of the Arno River and a bit away from the most prominent and touristic parts of Florence. The wine bar is small, with light walls, vaulted ceilings, and an antique bar counter in dark wood where the highchairs are highly sought after, exactly as the few small tables that fill up quickly. The wine list is long, most of the wines are Italian and artisanal.

Best Wine Bars in Florence: Our Top 5

Literally the “Saint Drinker,” Il Santo Bevitore actually isn’t technically a wine bar, but rather more of a restaurant with a great passion for wine. They also have a bar next door, Il Santino (“the little saint”), and you can grab a seat at either. They love to show off their wine list and pair it with gourmet food, so best to swing by at aperitivo hour.
