Reviews Summary

Mamma Elvira Enoteca is celebrated for its exceptional Pugliese wine selection and delicious traditional dishes, particularly its charcuterie and slow-cooked meats. Reviewers often praise the friendly service and charming atmosphere, especially the outdoor seating with views of Basilica di Santa Croce. However, some diners have experienced issues with billing, suggesting a need to double-check receipts.

"Our time there was magical! We first went to just have a glass of wine before dinner, which was delicious! And then had to come back to try all their deserts, all incredibly surprising and tasty! And throughout we treated to some wonderful hospitality! Definitely a must go place in Lecce! Thank you!"

"For a wine bar I expected more enthusiasm and explanation about the wines when asking for the different flavour profiles.
The food was good, we only had a crostino with tomatoes tho. So can’t say much about the rest."

Sandra Leinsle

"Stopped in for a glass of wine. Decent selection, perhaps not going to get serious wine fanatics giddy but some tasty options.

But I was very very impressed by the produce, my cheese platter was delicious. Incredible cheese paired with their own jams and spreads. The spicy relish was amazing. We bought some pickled chicory to take away, and it’s also seriously tasty stuff.

Well worth stopping by for a glass and some tasty bites.

Staff were also incredibly nice and welcoming 🙏🥳🥳🥳🥳"

Where (and What) to Drink in Puglia, Italy

If you’re looking to venture beyond the cellar doors and rub shoulders with the locals, look no further than this hip wine bar in Lecce. Opened in 2011, Mamma Elvira showcases a robust breadth of exclusively Pugliese wines (some 250 and counting), as well as local beers, chilled cocktails and snack plates. Since few travellers have time to get to every winery in the region, consider this your opportunity to cherrypick the best without leaving the building.

L'ora dell'aperitivo a Lecce

My top three restaurants recommendations in Lecce

With the opening of his wine bar in 2011, Andrea brought a shot of innovation to this traditional town, whose old-fashioned wine bars had typically offered just a few wines by the glass. Andrea broke that mold, offering glasses from every one of his 250 wines. He manages this with enomatic machines, which allow an open wine to last up to six weeks.
