Reviews Summary

Camparino in Galleria offers an iconic Milanese experience with its historic ambiance and signature Campari cocktails, often praised for its prime location in the Galleria and impressive view of the Duomo. While many enjoy the classic drinks and aperitivo snacks, some reviews mention inconsistent service and high prices, with occasional disappointment regarding food taste and temperature.

"Very nice atmosphere and setting. The food and drinks are also good. However, it was 9:30 pm and there were out of appetizers! The kitchen closes very early and the bar closes at 10:30 pm... in an area that touristic why would they close everything so early??"

Marilyn

"This restaurant doesn't live up to its high ratings online. It is located in the best commercial/tourist area, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, with great relaxing happy atmosphere. But I feel the waiters who have seen too many tourists coming and going forgot the service standard they should have held up. For example, when we entered the restaurant around 6pm, the waiter immediately told us we couldn't just order coffee. I think the attitude was a bit rude.
We ordered veal cutlet and black cod for dinner. The veal cutlet was a thick one different than others' thin cutlets, but surprisingly it tasted tender, juicy and tasty. It came with a bowl of salad which was refreshing. However the cod is pretty disappointing. It looked nice but had no taste at all. Furthermore it was cold inside and a bit raw. (I'm sure I didn't order sashimi) so end up after dinner we truly didn't order coffee as requested 😝."

Grace Lin

"Great service, first class drinks. Prices are higher but a perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or a special occasion, or just as a guest who came on holiday. I recommend making a reservation in advance. It's worth coming."

The best bars and nightlife in Milan

Milan’s most iconic aperitivo institution has been serving up chilled Campari Seltz since 1915. The place gets packed come early evening – at Bar di Passo, patrons jostle for space around the wooden and marble counter (it’s standing only on the ground floor), sipping post-work snifters before they head out for supper. Head upstairs to the quieter Sala Spiritello and enjoy your preferred tipple accompanied by light bites such as sea bass carpaccio and beef tartare as you peer down into Milan’s most famous shopping arcade and do a little people watching from one of the window seats.

One thing has remained constant in the Galleria: the Camparino, whose inlaid counter, mosaics, and wrought-iron fixtures have been welcoming tired shoppers since 1867. Small plates to be enjoyed with a Campari aperitif are served in pretty Bar di Passo downstairs, while a more extensive range of Campari cocktails paired with food for aperitivo or dinner is available in elegant Sala Spiritello upstairs.

Metro back to Piazza Duomo on the red line to the Camparino Bar for one of the several Campari cocktails on offer though be warned that likely no one will engage you about your interest in Campari’s history here as it’s often jammed with tourists vying for a table facing the Galleria Vittoria Emmanuele – you’re likely to find me at the bar with a Campari Seltz. Next, pop across Piazza Duomo to Museo del Novecento (which once housed one of Mussolini’s offices) for some twentieth-century Italian art. Experience the piazza from above at the Giacomo Arengario bar inside the museum with a better view than the Aperol Terrazza bar where you’ll feel obliged to sip on an overpriced spritz.

Whenever anyone asks me what to do in Milan, I always suggest grabbing a Campari seltz or Negroni at Camparino, the city’s iconic bar di passo. This gorgeous vintage bar has been the Milanese hangout for over 100 years, part due to its coveted location in the very center of Milan, on the corner of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele facing the Duomo, and definitely do to the incredible offering. Camparino is perfect in every way- amazing service, delicious Campari (of course!) cocktails, and a retinue of white-jacketed barmen who know exactly what what they are doing.

The inventor of the liqueur brand Campari opened this bar in 1867 and to this day you will get to experience the tasteful Campari cocktails here.
