Tommaso Melilli, Rocco Galasso, and Luca Gennati have taken over a classic Milanese trattoria in the Navigli, keeping much of the original fixtures in place while serving up intensely flavorful Northern Italian fare. Dishes may include riso giallo (rice with saffron), minestrone (hot or cold depending on the season), and savarin di riso, a Parma specialty comprising ring-shaped buttery, Parmigiano rice coated with paper-thin veal tongue and complete with meatballs cradled into the center. The wine list focuses on small producers.

Opened last September by the former owners of a wine bar/natural wine shop, along with chef and writer Tommaso Melilli, Gloria offers a short menu updated almost daily – based on market availability. "The dining room looks like a normal trattoria, but in the kitchen, Melilli modernizes traditional Italian recipes using seasonal ingredients and unconventional flavors," writes T Magazine.

Opened in December 2023, Gloria Osteria immediately caught the eye and became one of the trendiest restaurants in the city in no time. Inside you will find an eclectic and very colourful design environment reminiscent of a 1960s club, with attention to detail by London-based Studio Kiki. Chef Manuel, a Neapolitan by birth, has a menu in store for his guests that brings to the table the freshest ingredients of the highest quality, for a journey through Italian cuisine that ranges from north to south.

The French group Big Mamma, now with 24 venues in five countries, landed in Milan on December 1, 2023, with a space designed by Studio Kiki (internal to the group) and themed around Italianity and the good value for money. On the menu, cured meats and cheeses from Italian producers and dishes like Ligurian girella, a pappardelle rolled up with shredded rabbit ragù, served in a sauce reduced with raisins, pine nuts, and dill, and the Wellington-style turbot. You will find excellent service and exquisite dishes prepared with the same attention to detail as the restaurant’s decoration. Groups starting at 20 people will have to book the entire room.

Gloria is the place for you – read: subtlety is not in this sunshine-yellow trattoria’s vocabulary. The dining rooms are Capri-inspired, whilst Italian waiters are dressed in candy-striped uniforms. But if you thought the interiors were theatrical, consider the menu.
