Reviews Summary

Re di Macchia is consistently praised for its authentic Tuscan cuisine, particularly its pasta dishes and traditional meat preparations. Diners rave about the warm and personal service provided by owner Antonio, who elevates the dining experience. While the intimate setting is charming, some have noted feeling slightly pressed for space when dining alone. Overall, it's a highly recommended gem for a memorable meal in Montalcino.

"I had a great dinner here! Classic Montalcino wines, delicious Tagliata Steak (in the photo I've already eaten a little of it :), and a delightful dessert made our evening. The atmosphere is charming, and the music added the perfect touch. Highly recommended!"

"Everything was soooo good, yummy food, Antonio was super sweet, the restaurant was unexpected highlight on our trip. I strongly recommend and will come back with my husband and children. Thank you so much for a lovely dinner!"

Susanne Berch

"This seems to be the quintessential Italian restaurant. Antonio is the front of the house and Roberta is the back. Restaurant seats 26 total and it is perfect.
Wine list was fantastic, featuring over 2 pages of just Brunellos, and reasonably priced. Menu had good variety, and customers seemed to be mostly locals.
Antonio took great care if everyone and never missed a beat. Food was spectacular. The Panna Cotta was a beautiful work of art. More visually inspiring than some of the paintings I've seen in galleries. Really. I felt bad to destroy it with my spoon. But as the saying goes, "you can't have your Panna Cotta and eat it too." Was delicious, of course.
Wanted to come back one more time, but sadly our only open night is Thursday, when they are closed (couldn't convince Antonio to open up for us -ha!)"

Montalcino, mediaeval village in the heart of the Brunello wine region in Southern Tuscany

Even though wine-growing has been practiced here for many centuries, the birth of the Brunello di Montalcino dates back to the second half of the 19th century. The real breakthrough came even in 1967 when winegrowers from Montalcino founded the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. In the same year, Brunello di Montalcino was the seventh wine to obtain the protected designation DOC in Italy.

Montalcino Restaurants - My Favorite Montalcino Restaurants

Re di Macchie was recommended to me by my husband’s cousin Anna Lisa and it just might be my favorite place. The moment you walk up to this restaurant you can feel the good vibes, authentic food and dedication to their clients. My favorite is the duck with various sides, depending on the season, such as roasted potatoes or sauteed spinach or other greens.

The fun and curious name of this restaurant is probably due to the wall decorations, which indeed reproduce blue spots on a white background. Among the meat specialties, you'll find pici pasta with wild boar ragù and braised beef with red wine and spinach. The restaurant is located in Via Soccorso Saloni, 21 in Montalcino.
