What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Da Eraldo is highly praised for its generous portions of delicious traditional Cinque Terre cuisine, particularly its seafood. Diners often highlight the warm and inviting atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention an overly cooked pasta or a less-than-ideal ambiance due to external factors.
"Great diner here and we were lucky since most places are closed in the off-season !
The service was terrific, we didn’t have reservations but as guests in their neighboring hotel they offer 10% off and guarantee a table which was appreciated.
We had a mixed seafood started, pasta, fish of the day and octopus and a trio of desserts accompanied by a few local wines.
The wine wasn’t anything to write home about but the dinner was super tasty, the price was more than reasonable and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
Definitely worth a stop ! 👍"

"Cozy and pleasant atmosphere. kind service. Delicious food. I recommend the dessert 3:1( it called differently on the menu), the opportunity to taste small versions of 3 different desserts. Panacotta with lemon sauce was excellent.
We didn't reserve a table, we were lucky to get a table right away. While we were having dinner, a line formed outside with an hour-long wait time. So it's popular place and apparently for a reason."

"Our last dinner in Monterosso, we opted for Da Eraldo in town. The great reviews got us excited but we were quite disappointed, as the food we ordered left a lot to be desired. The pasta was severely overcooked, becoming a thick, mushy glob smothered with a flavourless sauce. We also ordered the swordfish and the grilled octopus, both were cooked well but nothing to write home about.
Portions are massive and I will say the value here is pretty great. We ordered far too much food, enough to feed four possibly and it was less than €65. We expected simple, minimal plating, but were overwhelmed with large plates with grilled vegetables, a mountain of potatoes and other accoutrement.
Service was fine, food came out very quick, within 10 minutes probably. Our server did not check on us after dropping the food, and just stood behind us at the doorway for most of our meal.
Sitting outside was nice, getting to see the town in the evening. Although the gentleman who lives in the building (his entrance door is directly in between the two patios) was quite the nuisance. He opened his door to show off his cats to anyone passing by and gloating about trying to “bring beautiful women into his home”. Not particularly great ambience.
Maybe it was the dishes we ordered or maybe just not our dining style, but we were overall not impressed."

Monterosso al Mare: The Beachside Gem of the Cinque Terre
In the old town, Da Eraldo is a tiny, convivial trattoria known for charcuterie boards and hearty pastas, while Ciak – La Lampara is a long-running restaurant where the owner (often donned in a sailor’s uniform) might personally recommend the catch of the day (Insider’s Guide to Monterosso – Love in the City of Light). Ciak is famous for its overflowing seafood risotto cooked in a giant pan (Insider’s Guide to Monterosso – Love in the City of Light). For something seaside and scenic, Il Casello is a laid-back spot by the water with pesto pasta and delicious anchovy dishes (and a friendly owner happy to chat and share recipes) (Insider’s Guide to Monterosso – Love in the City of Light).

4 Days in Cinque Terre
I had the BEST salad for lunch that day at this cute restaurant called Da Eraldo. We had been seeing people line up to wait for a table for dinner the past couple nights so we knew it had to be good. If you want to go for dinner, be sure to make reservations in advance.

I was very happy to find gluten free options - and they even had gluten free bread as a courtesy snack that they normally bring to everyone. The anchovies were simply delicious.

Loved their fantasia al mare- perfect for two people to share. They had a packaged sliced bread option which was nice to dip in the oil.
