This spot is run by a local Sicilian couple and has the feel of a high-end trattoria with the charm of a small family-run business, and the attention to detail usually reserved for generations spent in the service industry. They only use seafood that comes fresh off the boat in Terrasini near the Gulf of Castellammare, and the wine list, curated by the owners’ son, includes a solid selection of natural and traditional Sicilian bottles. The pasta al nero di seppia with cuttlefish and bottarga is the dish you need to order, but proceed with caution: Sicilian cuttlefish ink pasta has an intense black sauce that’ll stain everything, including your mouth.

Traditional coastal recipes that are front and centre, and the Corona family, who’ve been in the restaurant business for decades, works directly with fishermen to bring in the catch of the day.

Spatafora and Sarris both recommend this family-run trattoria for seafood, great service, and a curated Sicilian wine list. “Always listen to the recommendations from the staff; the specials of the day are often the best dishes, like pasta with cured tuna bottarga, lathered with super rich, black cuttlefish ink,” Sarris says. “Leave the wine pairings to Orazio Corona,” Spatafora adds.

The Corona family has decades in the local restaurant world and opened Corona Trattoria (Via Guglielmo Marconi 9) four years ago.
