What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ke Palle is celebrated for its wide and creative selection of arancini, with many praising the generous fillings and crispy texture. While some find the vegan and vegetarian options impressive, a few reviews mention a less-than-stellar experience with blandness or cold food. Despite mixed opinions on consistency, the unique flavors and authentic street food experience draw many visitors.
"Best spot for arancinis in Palermo! Especially the vegan and vegetarian options were great! Such a big variety of flavors and really good quality! :)"
Annika Dellgrün
"Tasty stuff with a few vegan options. Rice was very whole and firm to the bite without being a mush.
The vegan one was a bit paste like but tasted good and wasn’t a million miles away from other others I’ve had that were slightly better.
Overall it’s fast food in a very touristy area so if you’re expecting the best you may be disappointed.
It’s good for what it is tho.
And great Pigdeon’s in the area"
Caïna Verrin
"A must-try Sicilian street food, this shop is undoubtedly the best place for arancini (fried rice balls). We ordered three flavors: curry chicken, fish, and mushroom, each with its own unique twist, and all featuring an incredibly crispy crust. The only regret was missing out on the octopus flavor. If I come to Sicily, I’ll definitely try it next time!"

What Balls" is the literal translation of this street-food kiosk's name, and a fitting one, as it only sells one thing: arancini. With flavours ranging from prawn and pistachio (weirdly good) to slow-cooked ragù (a classic) and, for those with a sweet tooth, Nutella, it's easy to make a full meal out of these iconic Sicilian snacks. Order a local Messina beer, subtly flavoured with sea salt, for the full experience.

Our discovery was a place called Ke Palle (which means What balls! and also an expression in Italian to shows the discontent of a person. Used often. especially if you ask an Italian to do something unpleasant or something he doesn’t want to – you will hear that often!) So this place offers deep fried rice balls for a take away or to eat on the spot. And this is exactly what we did.
