"A wonderful meal and knowledgeable staff made this a beautiful experience. The wine pairing was spot on, the gnocchi was flavorful with mild umami. The roast suckling pork with apple mustard really worked well, the skin was amazing. The lamb was well prepared and the reduction outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant for couples or a group."

"Just as you enter into town, you are greeted by this location. It is also one of the first restaurants we ate at in Montepulciano years ago and we were in love from the beginning. They offer traditional Tuscan cuisine in a casual, yet elegant setting. The food is amazing, as well as the service. Mery, who we have known from previous visits, was so warm & welcoming. And Francesco took time to really listen so he could help us with our wine selection. They really made the experience fabulous! Of course the food is delicious as well. Lunch or dinner, this is worth visiting when you’re in Montepulciano.

Porta di Bacco: When I said Gattavecchi was a favourite, it was great, but Porta di Bacco was amazing. It’s a bit misleading to compare them as Porta di Bacco is an Osteria and operates at a different (price) level. This was my favourite meal of the trip.
