What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Caruso Gelateria is consistently praised for its exceptional, traditional, and authentic gelato, with many calling it the best they've ever had in Italy. The creamy texture and delicious flavors, including unique options and sugar/lactose-free choices, are major highlights. While overwhelmingly positive, some visitors note disappointment if a specific flavor, like gorgonzola, is unavailable.
"this gelato is something else than all the others, a different level! very creamy and tasty and only 2.5€/cup. try it out, you won't be disappointed! the staff was very welcoming and they brought us glasses of water after finishing the ice-cream. some people really know how to sell! Congrats!"

"The moment I walked in I could notice how cozy and fun the atmosphere was. We got to test multiple ice creams that tasted amazing. They have many different choices which is perfect, along with different tastes that aren’t ‘basic.’ I had bought the caramel and Roucher while my mother bought mango and coconut. The moment you taste their ice cream you just know that it’s made from scratch. Amazing place! Lovely people!"

"I am always coming back here when I am in surroundings, at least for this ice-cream. It is even small word to say fabulous! One of the best ice-creams of my life and I had them a loooooot. Note that there are also sugar and lactose free options (nocciola and pistachio). I am always for lemon and basil and Gorgonzola and blueberries are must try."

You can’t go past Puglia's Monopoli
Back in the piazza, a hand-made gelato from Gelateria Caruso finishes off lunch – local lemons, melons and berries form the base for many of the flavours. Try the limone e’ torta – a smooth and creamy lemon gelato with sponge cake pieces. My self-discipline fails miserably in my attempt to not have a second helping.
A Local's Guide To Polignano A Mare, Puglia
Caruso has been one of the best at making artisanal gelato since 1956, and they offer both traditional and more unique flavors. If you prefer to keep it simple, try their pistachio and hazelnut gelatos, but if you’d like to taste something out of the ordinary, you have to order their figs and gorgonzola flavor!
8 Days in Italy | Polignano a Mare, Alberobello, Amalfi Coast & Napoli
We actually wanted to try a particular gelato/ dessert place in Polignano a Mare called Caruso, but it was closed and we wouldn’t have been able to try it the next day as we planned to leave earlier than the opening time. I took a photo of the opening times for future reference.
