Il Testardo - Locanda Atipica

"The name says it all "Locanda Atipica". This is NOT your typical restaurant, but surely IT IS worth trying. We had one of the best table outside, and the ambient was great. The service was attentive and precise, and the food was just excellent. We started with a Crudo, and it was so good we ordered some more ... I think I had the best oyster of my life here, and I am still dreaming their "Gambero viola" which melted in my mouth. We continued with some hot appetizers, and shared one primo and one secondo. All very tasty and remarkable. I do recommend you try this place, and i strongly suggest you make a reservation for it. You will thank me for it."

"While visiting the ruins of the Roman baths in Baia, I saw, at the southern end of the park, the nice terrace of a restaurant. We decided to have lunch there. This is how we arrived at Locanda Atipica. We were asked if we had a reservation - so if you go there, it's good to book in advance. The interior is quite cozzy, chic. I noticed quite a large number of waiters, so customers are not bored with a long wait, but they need to decide quickly what they want to order. The food is very tasty, full of goodness, well prepared, I must admit. Probably, the restaurant tends to receive Michelin stars, which can explain the small weight of the portions, as well as their "peppery" price. On the negative side, a certain waiter left us with an unpleasant impression, because he took our plates from in front of us while we were still eating... It was as if it was an "invitation" to leave the place as soon as possible. At the allegedly high level, from all points of view, of the restaurant, something like this is unacceptable. Therefore, a more thorough training of the staff is required. Just as it would be desirable to eliminate a practice that is still quite widespread in the region: dishes without a clearly displayed price, which were presented orally by waiters, or written on a blackboard, but still without a price. Beyond the less pleasant aspects, there remains the experience of a chic restaurant, where the food - though spartan in proportion and inversely proportional relative to the price - is delicious."

"Wonderful dinner, in an amazingly cosy setting, tasting creative dishes building upon the endless local food tradition and top-notch fresh seafood.
As the you may guess from the fact that it is a "Cruderia", all raw fish food is amazing.
Highly recommend the Menu Degustazione to try all their specialties, combined with a selection of wines."
