"Tipped off about this family-friendly restaurant. Opens just daily between 12 and 3pm. Longer perhaps at weekends. Maria enjoys groups here. We were told to just ask for "Maria's Special" and forget the menu. Good call, we were provided with a good range starters main and sweet with accompanying drinks, wine water and prossecco.
Cost was 50 euro for the two of us including drinks.
But such a happy lunch with the staff friendly and ever watchful to your service needs."

"Great service ordered four pasta dishes, one Coke and 2 L of water and was charged €60. They also brought out a side dish we did not order but seem to have been charged for our server was excellent and I gave him a tip although looking back, felt like I should’ve not been charged For the appetizer we didn’t order but brought out watermelons and lemon cello at the end for free. Wasn’t the best pasta in Rome, but was decent."

"The service and atmosphere here are off-the-charts excellent! You feel like they have known you for years and treat you like family. Maria seems to be well-known in the neighborhood, and many local people also dine here, which is always a good sign. We had a pizza, Cacio de Pepe. With the meal for no charge, we were given bread, two sausages, lemon cello, and an orange. I cannot wait to take my mom here in July. The positive energy will consume you here. There is absolutely no way you can have a bad day after visiting the local spot. Chow!"

Where to eat near Vatican City
I recommend the Ristorante dei Musei Vaticani- their green fabric sign says "Ristoranti Bar dei Musei Pizzeria" and it is right on the corner on the bottom floor of the building. Look for the green awning and those words. They have great Italian food of all sorts and the owners and staff are so friendly you'll think you just walked into a family reunion with you as the beloved prodigal returning home.
