Good restaurants in Trastevere can be hard to come by these days, but upon entering Da Teo, all signs point to us being in the right place. Don’t come here expecting anything more (or less) than Roman classics–albeit perfectly executed. Start with the crispy, salty, utterly delicious zucchini blossoms (handily priced per piece), followed by one of the pastas–if you’re here on Thursdays go for the gnocchi, otherwise their spaghetti with fresh tuna, capers, and olives is particularly good.

A well-loved dish usually enjoyed at home, penne all’arrabbiata can be tricky to find at restaurants in Italy. And it’s a shame, as nothing hits the spot quite like this spicy sauce made with tomato and pepperoncino when you fancy something with a kick. Trattoria Da Teo is located in a typical Trastevere square and in addition to the indoor dining rooms offers a delightful veranda where you can dine al fresco, admiring the charm of the neighbourhood. Teo and Tiziana, the owners, offer traditional Lazio dishes, but also fish specialities, grilled meat and, when in season, the local white truffle and porcini mushrooms.

Trastevere is filled with delightful Roman eateries but our favorite is undoubtedly Trattoria Da Teo. The restaurant is tucked into a corner in an unassuming little piazza and has plenty of outdoor (and indoor) seating so it’s a great place to try dishes like amatriciana, carciofi, and, cacio e pepe at any time of the year. It’s particularly evocative in the evenings as the sun begins to set and the temperatures begin to drop.

Opened by a former chef at Da Enzo (hence, presumably, the similar name), Da Teo is a charming family-run restaurant that’s a firm favourite among locals. You’ll find it on a lovely little piazza, far enough away from the freneticism of the center to offer peace and quiet for a romantic Roman dinner. Make sure to try the homemade ravioli ricotta e spinaci (spinach and ricotta ravioli) which may well be the best in Rome.

Located in a quiet and charming Piazza Ponziani in Trastevere, Da Teo is an excellent choice if you are looking to dine under hanging ivy and sparkling stars. Da Teo serves classic Roman pastas in generous portions in addition to seasonal specialties, like wild asparagus with fresh fettucine in late spring. Their starters are also extensive and range from fiori di zucca, or fried zucchini flowers, to salmon tartar.

Da Teo is a historical trattoria in the heart of Trastevere (Piazza dei Ponziani 7A), yet far from the tourist crowds. Definitely one of our favorite places to taste traditional Roman cuisine and one of the best carbonaras!. Enjoy a nice and casual atmosphere and do not to miss their “tortino di puntarelle and buffalo mozzarella” and delicious homemade desserts.

For those seeking a fun, elbows-on-the-table dinner in Trastevere, complete with wisecracking waiters and a lovely outdoor terrace, there’s no better spot than Da Teo. And, oh yeah, the food is really good, too. Teo offers classic Roman trattoria fare—fried artichokes, chicken with bell peppers, and bitter puntarelle dressed with oil and anchovy.

Poor Trattorio Da Teo (Piazza dei Ponziani, 7A) is sometimes the second choice when Da Enzo is full but it is another good traditional Trastevere restaurant and has the bonus option of being able to book a table online. Don’t let them talk you into the shrimp and lime pasta – just stick to the amatriciana, gricia or traditional cacio e pepe.

Trattoria Da Teo - This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who lived in Rome. It is one of their personal favourites and happens to be a family owned and operated restaurants. Even though we had a reservation the restaurant was packed with locals and we had to wait for a table to vacate before we could sit down to order.

Going to Da Teo feels like being invited to a Roman family's house for dinner. Inside an ivy-covered trattoria in the romantic Trastevere neighbourhood, the conversations are loud, food portions substantial, and you can even spot chef Teodoro Filippini walking around, talking to customers.

You might be surprised to see that Trattoria Da Enzo al29 is not on this list. SORRY to all of you that love this spot, but I really believe it’s become a bit over-hyped and over-filled with tourists. Not dissing it, just saying that there are plenty of other spots for delicious pasta.

You will find an abundance of places to eat, and certainly many with outdoor tables. But many of these places are touristy (not great food, not-always fair pricing, and sometimes different treatment towards tourists vs. locals). A very Roman lunch at a very Roman spot in Trastevere.

Da Teo opens up onto a quaint little piazza where tables are arranged underneath a dreamy canopy illuminated with white lights. Enjoy the classic Roman primi and secondi dishes like amatriciana, carbonara, and saltimbocca, and expect friendly and efficient service.

Da Teo – While it’s become well-trodden on the tourist track these days, Da Teo still retains its classic style and charmingly abrupt service, while serving large portions of well-executed Roman classics. Sit in the pretty courtyard for people watching.

Da Teo is tucked away in an ivy-covered palazzo overlooking a small piazza in Trastevere’s less-touristy section. Go for the fried-to-perfection antipasti, from supplì and fried cod to the delicious olive ascolane. Then, stay for the mains.

As the neighbourhood continues to gentrify, pockets of old Trastevere become harder to find. On a tiny, tucked-away piazza, Trattoria da Teo needs to be treasured. This is where the locals come for a hit of seafood pasta.
