Reviews Summary

A Putia is a highly popular Sicilian restaurant in Ortigia known for its authentic, homely dishes and vibrant atmosphere. While many praise the delicious pasta, fresh seafood, and welcoming service, some diners note that the extensive wait times and occasional inconsistencies in certain dishes can be drawbacks. Despite the popularity, it's often considered worth the wait for a true taste of Sicily.

"The best swordfish I have ever eaten! The starters were fresh and full of flavor; we also tried some pasta which was delicious and perfectly cooked. Be prepared to wait in a queue though — the host took our names and told us to come back after about 40 minutes. We went for a walk and when we returned, our table was ready. Everything tasted authentic and made with care."

"We waited about 15 minutes to get a table — this place tends to have long wait times if you don’t arrive early, as it’s a small and very popular spot. The atmosphere, however, was lovely. There was a man singing serenades during dinner, which created such a warm and beautiful vibe.

We started with the bruschetta with tomatoes, but unfortunately, it fell flat. It lacked flavor, barely had any basil, and felt a bit uninspired overall. Honestly, I’m quite sure I could’ve made a better one myself. The tomatoes tasted like the ones we get back home in Norway during winter — watery and bland.

For the main, we had pasta in tomato sauce with meatballs. It was good, but we were a little disappointed. Our expectations were high, and while the dish was enjoyable, it wasn’t anything remarkable.

Still, the place has charm and the service was nice, so it’s worth a visit for the ambiance — just maybe lower your expectations a bit when it comes to the food."

"Delicious food! The menu has a little something for anyone. Our favorites were the pistachio pesto pasta and the sausage with red peppers and potato mash. Very nice servers and the restaurant is on a cute street with indoor and outdoor seating."

Where to Eat on Ortigia in Siracusa, Sicily

This uber tiny restaurant is right around the corner from Piazza Archimede and is always packed. They don’t accept reservations so you really have to be lucky to get a table, and we were for one lunch where we were squeezed into a two-top and shared some small plates and a heavenly swordfish.
