Osteria Antiche Sere is consistently praised for its authentic Piedmontese cuisine, with dishes like the incredibly tender veal cheek and flavorful pastas being standout favorites. Diners rave about the warm, homey atmosphere and the friendly, passionate service, making it feel like a visit to a cherished family home. While the remote location might be a slight detour for tourists, the genuine experience and excellent value make it well worth the journey.
"The softest melt in your mouth veal cheek I’ve ever had. I don’t know what sorcery & love is behind this dish, but I’ve never had veal this soft!! I wish I had a second stomach to fill it up with the divine dishes here! Every meal is cooked with love and is mouth watering. The house wine (Nebbiolo) complements the meal ideally. Very nice traditional atmosphere!
This is now one of my favorite places in all of Italy!"

"Exceptional! You know you are in the right spot when on Monday late evening you enter a restaurant in Torino which is packed full.
I came without reservation based on my simple online research and was greeted by an elegant host. Whom one of the staffed might have called “mom” in Italian, but I might be wrong. What I am positive about is the feeling I m getting. Coming here feels like visiting your best friends grandmas house. Look at the decor and the dishes! It feels like this menu has not been changed for a century but for a good reason. If the chefs do a dish for a 1000time, I believe it becomes close to perfection. Simple presentation and even more so the offer, but that is a kind of thing everyone should expect from place like this. You can get a sneak peak in the kitchen and when you see the chefs impeccably dressed with white hats, clean working surface, again, you know you are at the right place! I admit, I m writing this review under such a positive emotions waiting for dessert. The only thing for improvement I can think of is that I would like the side salad to be mixed with oil and vinegar before service, but again I admit this might be the Italian way or serving salads without any dressing?
There were four ladies running the floor and it felt everyone shared the same enthusiasm and passion for work. Going beyond the obvious service and great food makes one experience exceptional.
I almost feel obliged (in good way) to write this review and think of when can I next book my flight ticket to come to Torino because of this place."

"highly recommend, even though it is quite famous now in Turin it lives up to its reputation in serving genuine, homey Piedmontese food. It is clear the chef cares deeply about hospitality, he was always walking around the restaurant making sure everyone enjoyed the food. All the staff was so kind to us and we felt welcome as tourists - we tried our best to show respect and interest in wanting to eat the most representative Piedmontese dishes and we were well rewarded. Thank you!! 💖
We had similar food at another famous Piedmontese establishment the night before, but I found Antiche Sere’s vitello tonnato more flavourful. Their veal cheek was also more gelatinous and soft than the night before. You must also try the bagna cauda and raw sausage!"

Top 10 restaurants in Turin | Turin holidays
Tucked away in the quiet residential neighbourhood of Borgo San Paolo to the west of Turin’s city centre, this friendly family-run osteria features dark wooden furniture, period chairs and framed photos from the early 20th century. The menu, scribbled on recycled paper, is strictly seasonal: autumn sees hearty soups, including bean and mushrooms and chick pea soup (€6), along with wholesome polenta, mushroom and sausage dishes (€8). In the warmer months meals are enjoyed on a pleasant vine-shaded terrace.
Turin: City of Specialty
This no-frills, family-run joint might seem a bit out of the way, but is well worth the metro ride to the residential Cenisia neighborhood. In what feels like more of a living room than a dining area—the cozy space is clad in timber paneling and whitewashed walls, adorned with vintage photographs—diners are treated to straightforward Piedmontese classics from a handwritten menu that changes with the seasons. The antipasti misti is a must, offering a slew of traditional starters like grilled red peppers topped with anchovies, wedges of frittata laced with herbs and greens, vitello tonnato, and hard-boiled eggs finished with bagnet vert, a blended green sauce of parsley, capers and anchovies.
Where to eat the best vitello tonnato in Turin
A treasure chest where the most authentic gastronomic tradition is preserved in an old-fashioned and lived-in setting, but always extremely well cared for and welcoming. This is Antiche Sere, a place where guests can bask in the most sincere flavours of Piedmontese classics: anchovies, baked peppers, tomini cheese, agnolotti with roast sauce and, of course, vitello tonnato cooked to perfection, with an excellent sauce. The wine cellar is not impressive, but there are the right references for this menu offered at honest prices.
9 great restaurants in Turin to try during your trip
Osteria Antiche Sere is one of those unpretentious trattorias that charms diners with their homey atmosphere and honest food. Often listed as one of the top restaurants in Turin, you’ll find it nestled on a side street in the semi-central district of Cenisia – a bit out of the main tourist area, but totally worth the detour. The interior is charmingly old fashioned, with embroidered curtains, black and white photos and pots hanging on the walls.
Brilliant Things to Do in Turin
Recommended to me by one of the people I respect most when it comes to food, Osteria Antiche Sere is family-run, just far enough off the beaten track that it attracts few tourists and takes a vague, ‘who cares?. ’ approach to marketing (hours listed as “may be incorrect” on Google Maps, bookings only by phone). In other words, my platonic ideal of a holiday restaurant.
5 Best Turin Restaurants in 2024
It feels like a warm hug, so relaxing, so inviting and so delicious. The best part is that it’s full of locals thanks to being way out of the city centre. This can also be a downside if you’re a tourist and don’t have a car, but trust me, it’s so worth visiting!
