What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Osteria Enoteca San Marco is praised for its exceptional food, particularly its pasta and seasonal dishes, and its outstanding wine list. While many find the service attentive and knowledgeable, some reviews suggest a need for improvement in pacing between courses to allow diners to savor the experience. Despite slightly higher prices, the overall consensus is that it offers a high-quality dining experience.
"Recommended by the hotel desk. Absolutely ridiculous! Most amazing lamb ragu, personalized and very knowledgeable service and a beautiful restaurant. One of the best wine lists I've ever seen. Seriously credible restaurant that delivers. Highly recommend."

"The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was decent, but it didn’t quite stand out compared to other places in Venice. It wasn’t bad by any means, just not particularly memorable. Overall, a good spot for a meal with great service, but if you’re looking for something extraordinary, you might want to explore other options."
Christopher Escalante
"This osteria and wine bar, located close to Piazzetta San Marco, offers a mix of traditional and slightly modernized Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. The establishment features a distinctive logo—a lion’s head drawn in graphite—that adds a nice visual touch.
1) The menu places a noticeable emphasis on seafood, but it also includes a good variety of pasta, meat, and vegetarian dishes. I did not see any poultry-based options. Overall, the selection is balanced, with recipes that take some creative liberties while staying within familiar territory.
2) One of the more enjoyable parts of the meal was the cheese plate. The staff explained each cheese and recommended tasting them in a clockwise order, moving from mild to stronger flavors. The accompanying jams, made from figs and onions with a bit of spice, paired well with the cheeses.
3) The menu reflects seasonal changes and features dishes from different regions of Italy. During my visit, I had Paccheri, a pasta variety from Campania. I arrived shortly after they had removed Osso Bucco—a veal dish from Lombardia—from the menu.
4) Prices are somewhat higher than what you might find at a typical Venetian osteria or trattoria. Appetizers and first courses are often similarly priced, generally around €25. Considering the location and level of service, the pricing seems reasonable.
5) The bread served during the meal was not fresh, which was disappointing and inconsistent with the overall standard of the restaurant."
