In the historic center of Verona, La Greppia restaurant is an institution as it is not only one of the oldest Veronese restaurants but also one of the best, which offers a combination that can transform a simple dinner into an unforgettable occasion. Once you enter La Greppia restaurant, this impression is immediately reinforced by the elegant but not excessively opulent setting. Accompanying us at the table is the owner Dialma Guizzardi, who, together with Giovanna since 1975, has been carrying on an activity that immediately gained a prominent place in the crowded gastronomic context of the city.

Just around the corner from Enoteca Sagrada, we came across Ristorante Greppia (Vicolo Samaritana, 3), a family run restaurant that has been around for a number of decades. The menu outside stated traditional Veronese cooking, so we decided to pop in as we were ready for dinner – this is is exactly what I came here for. We walked in, but to my surprise the restaurant didn’t appear very busy which made me little apprehensive.

For a budget-friendly lunch, head to Ristorante Greppia, known for its local specialties. Spend the afternoon discovering the hidden gem of Porta Palio and the grandeur of the Gran Guardia Palace (Palazzo della Gran Guardia). Conclude your cultural journey with a visit to the historic Verona Duomo (Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare).

Tucked into a quiet street just steps from the Arena, Greppia has been serving Veronese classics for four generations. Come for the bigoli and Amarone risotto, stay for a post-dinner amaro. It’s a true taste of Verona—authentic, welcoming, unforgettable.

Nestled away in a narrow alleyway in the center of the city, guests can sit outside in the courtyard at Ristorante Greppia and enjoy an authentic menu containing traditional Veronese dishes, including a popular pasta sampler.

I’m not talking about any of that synthetic truffle oil coated pasta (which shouldn’t be allowed to call itself truffle oil!) I’m talking lots of real, freshly grated truffle with that wonderful, slightly musky aroma.
