What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sanrokuen offers a unique and memorable dining experience with its traditional Japanese BBQ set in a charming, historic building. Diners rave about the authentic atmosphere, the interactive grilling process, and the high quality of the food, especially the fresh seafood and meats. While some found it a bit warm during summer, the overall consensus is that the experience is well worth the price.
"The experience was so amazing, it made the food taste even better. I only give it a little less than 5 on the food as we were recommended to cook the clam and scallop last due to charcoal temperature (we opted for the Beni Fuji menu) and those, while good, were the least tasty of all the dishes. The other seafood (squid, fish, salmon, prawn) were all delicious as were the pork and beef skewers. But the atmosphere was 5/5 and the service was impeccable - included a free ride to the train station with all our luggage! Highly recommend."

"Food is absolutely amazing, and the portions are very generous.
I ordered one ramen and a combo set with ramen, fried rice, and a raw egg on top. Everything was delicious, especially the rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. The fried rice had a nice smoky taste, and the raw egg added a creamy texture.
All of this cost only about 2,000 ¥, which is a great deal for such a satisfying meal. Highly recommended!"

"Very nice BBQ Japanese setting serving a good variety of seafood and meats. I would recommend ordering ala carte unless you're a tofu, fishcake and rice ball person. The ambiance is relaxing and suitable for chit chatting or business executive discussion. Perfect place during winter."

2025 Recommended Restaurants in Yamanashi Prefecture (Updated April)| Trip Moments
I went to Sanrokuen in Yamanashi Prefecture♪ The restaurant is near Lake Kawaguchi, so it's a great place to go for a drive🙆🏼♀️ In this charming old-style gassho-style restaurant, you can sit around the back of the fireplace and enjoy robatayaki, but it's actually served in a style where you grill and eat your own ingredients☺️ It's something you don't get to experience very often, so it was fun✨ This time I ordered the Shingen Course (5,500 yen). The fish was so fresh that it was still moving before it was grilled🐟 The best part is being able to eat your favorite ingredients at your favorite time and how cooked you want♡ In addition to the simple charcoal grilled food, we also had a Yamanashi specialty, "hoto," at the end♪ It was delicious with a warm and gentle taste😋 If you go to Yamanashi, please try it❣️ #0 yen trip
