What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hakata Uogashi is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh and high-quality sushi, often prepared to order. While many praise the value and attentive service, some diners note that it can be pricey for Japan and that the lively atmosphere might not suit everyone. A recurring concern is the occasional unpleasant smell, particularly when seated near the restrooms, which detracts from an otherwise excellent dining experience.
"It’s a fabulous sushi restaurant beneath the station where the sushi is made to order despite having a belt. We ordered and enjoyed multiple dishes, everything was extremely fresh and high quality, and we had super help from our waiter called Tu (pronounced Two), he speaks very good English which was very helpful compared to other staff in other restaurants. Also pretty cool at the end when he simply scanned the plates to calculate the overall cost (see the video). A great meal and experience."

"Long queue at peak hour. Reasonably fresh fish though not the best I’ve tasted. Slightly pricey for the quality.
Various grades of tuna available and served as a platter. Abalone was very tough and crunchy - was it meant to be this way?"

"There is a conveyor belt but you order sushi and other foods with the staffs. There is English menu which is helpful if you don’t understand Japanese.
The sushi was delicious. Very fresh and reasonably priced. However, the whole experience was ruined by the foul smell. We were seated right next to the kitchen, and we could smell toilet all the time. We later found out there is a public toilet on the other side. It’s likely the smell was coming from there.
Please address the smell problem."
