What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Miyajima Brewery is lauded for its unique craft beers, especially the Oyster Stout and Dragon IPA. Visitors enjoy the picturesque island setting and consider it a must-visit after exploring the area. While the beer selection and quality are highly praised, some reviewers note that seating can be limited, which detracts slightly from the overall experience.
"I do enjoy a brewery visit 🍻
Amazed to find such well crafted beers on the island. Fried oysters a lovely addition to our two tasting beer trays.
Hard to choose favourites: the wheat beer was a hit (even with my wife who usually doesn't like them). The Oyster stout was divine. It like the Red Dragon beer too.
Limited seating but ok to stand and enjoy the beer on high tops.
If you love beer this is a must visit.
Highly recommended"

"Great place to visit after walking don the mountain. Nice little brewery that sells a variety of beers and some beer flights. They also have crumbed oysters as a bar snack. If you like beer it’s worth stopping here. Only reason it gets a four is lack of seating."

"The Dragon IPA (ALC 7%) is really hoppy, got the perfect bitterness. Staff is courteous & helpful. Their fried oysters pairs perfectly with this IPA. A remarkable brewery."

Tasting My Way Through Hiroshima's Oyster Scene
Although I was initially confused to see oysters used for a stout rather than something like a citrusy lager or ale to complement their brininess, upon trying the beer, I understood why the brewery went with a stout instead. In Japan, oysters are sometimes referred to as “the milk of the sea,” and mixing that salty, creamy flavor with a stout resulted in a decent dark beer. While it wasn’t the revelation of Sakurao’s botanical-rich bottle, this stout balanced its rich, coffee-like flavor with a mild scent of brine.
Breweries in Hiroshima
As the name suggests, this microbrewery is on Miyajima Island, which is already a win as you get to journey out to the beautiful island location. The brewery is above a restaurant, meaning you can pair craft beers with a selection of tasty cuisine. There are 16 beers produced in total, including Miyajima Weizen (white beer), Misen Dragon IPA, Hiroshima Lemon Ale, and Oyster Stout.

Since Miyajima is surrounded by water, you can bet its seafood is great. One of the island specialties is oyster!. As you take the ferry into the island from mainland Hiroshima, you can see the oyster farms floating in the middle of the bay.
