What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sushi Tora is lauded for its exceptionally fresh, melt-in-your-mouth sushi and the warm, personal hospitality of the elderly chef and his wife. Diners cherish the authentic, old-school atmosphere and the unique experience of interacting with the chef. While some acknowledge the slower pace of service due to the chef's dedication, most find the quality and value to be outstanding.
"Grandpa, the oldest sushi chef in Ishikawa, is the loveliest! Along with his wife, they made the effort to know each of his customers and note them down in his notebook as memories. Of course I have to mention his omakase set. it was freshly prepared with love. It was too good i finished my meal too fast. I’m so glad to have dine here on my last night in Kanazawa."

"Best store. Hidden Gem. An old couple walking slowly and giving you the sweetest experience in your life. Whoever gave them bad ratings is crazy and used to automated boring or hipster restaurants and don’t know how to enjoy life. I think the same people who give them bad reviews should rather stay in Paris, Munich, Milan’s or LA if this world instead of going to travel for experience. Yes they are a little slower but the food quality is top notch."

"Extremely welcoming chef, incredible food, great atmosphere! Sushi melted on the tongue and tasted amazing!! The chef maintains traditional vibes and takes time, putting love into the food (which definitely pays off!). Tora-san likes to keep a journal of all the customers who has visited which make it feel super personal. I’ve seen some negative reviews which is a shame as I really enjoyed my experience - I think the price was fair given the quantity and quality of the food. Overall great meal and would highly recommend! Would love to see this on the Michelin guide :D"

Order: Sweet ShrimpThis absolute gem of a sushi spot is ran by a 78-year-old man and his wife. We stumbled upon it while looking for sushi restaurants in the area. Locals who were dining next to us recommended we start off with a serving of the sweet shrimp, which is plump on the exterior, but creamy to the bite.
