#yakuzamafia #yamaguchigumiinpublic #mafiaboss #inagawakai #yakuzamembers Achievements: * Hirohiro Inagawa's achievements are highly regarded not only for establishing the Inagawa-kai as one of Japan's leading designated criminal organizations but also for contributing to the suppression of conflicts within the yakuza society. Key Term Explanations for Foreigners: * Inagawa-kai (稲川会): One of the major yakuza (Japanese organized crime) groups in Japan. The "-kai" suffix often denotes an association or organization. * Showa (昭和) and Heisei (平成): Eras in the Japanese imperial calendar. Showa 21 corresponds to 1946 in the Gregorian calendar, and Heisei 8 corresponds to 1996. * Wakashu-gashira (若衆頭): A high-ranking position within a yakuza organization, often translated as "head of young members" or a similar leadership role overseeing younger members. * Rijicho (理事長): Chairman of the board of directors or a similar executive management position within an organization. * Kumicho (組長): The leader or boss of a yakuza gang. * Gobu no kyodaibai (五分の兄弟盃): A ritual of exchanging sake (rice wine) to establish a sworn brotherhood on equal footing. "Gobu" means "equal" or "fifty-fifty." This signifies a relationship of mutual respect and non-aggression. * Yakuza (ヤクザ): Japanese organized crime groups, often compared to the mafia or gangs in other countries. * Designated Criminal Organization (指定暴力団 - Shitei Bōryokudan): Yakuza groups officially designated by the Japanese government as having a significant potential for violence. This translation aims to provide context and explain key terms to make the information accessible to an English-speaking audience unfamiliar with Japanese yakuza culture.

What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Kaikaya offers a sophisticated izakaya experience with a strong emphasis on seafood and an intimate, moody atmosphere. While many praise the quality of the dishes, particularly the seafood, and the unique semi-private dining setting, some diners have found the pricing to be high for larger groups and have experienced rushed service or perceived a decline in food quality over time. The restaurant's focus on Western flavors also makes it less appealing to those seeking purely authentic Japanese cuisine.

"Great place for dinner and a drink"

Thedarkdeth

"A high end seafood sake izakaya. Each table is quadrined off by blinds, so you are guaranteed semi privacy. This may work well for business dinners and dates. Moody lighting and light jazz as bgm. There is a buzzer on the table, so service is never far away. The menu hit all the right strides with a seafood main selection that is everything from raw, baked, fried, steamed and stewed. They had 2 local oyster strains on the menu which was a nice touch. The garlic pan fried red snapper was the stand out item for me. A bit more expensive than the other eateries close by, but still half the price of Tokyo or Yokohama.

If you reserve via Gurunavi you will still have to deal with the restaurant calling you. It seems to make the online reservation pointless..."
