What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yanbaru Soba is highly praised for its authentic Okinawa soba, featuring delicious noodles and a rich, flavorful broth. Diners also appreciate the traditional, Showa-era atmosphere of the wooden home setting. While some note that the meat could be more tender, the overall consensus is that the food is worth the wait, even with potential queues. The chili water condiment is a recommended addition for an extra kick of local flavor.
"Delicious Okinawa soba in a traditional interior. The noodles had a nice bounce to them, and the meat had a deep flavour."

"Ordered soki soba and the broth and noodles were delicious. Meat was not as tender as you would usually expect for soki soba, but still tasted great!"

"You would probably know it was here if you drove past at lunchtime due to the long line of locals but otherwise, a great neighbourhood find. We visited at around 11.30 and waited on seats outside the restaurant in the usual organised Japanese way for about 30 min for a table. There are tables on tatami as well as with chairs (the high chair for tatami are practical and cute - because Japan!). When you get inside the restaurant, you place your order during the final wait. There are 2 options: soba with (roasted) pork rib or (braised & toasted) pork belly (& fish cake) in small or large size. The kids soba is a small portion with a leaner piece of boneless pork and fishcake. Both were delicious and the broth was as well. Hot and cold tea is self served. The tv in the dining room is very reminiscent of eating in an Asian family home. Definitely worth the wait and would visit again if in the area."

Despite being located a two-hour drive from Naha Airport in Motobu Town, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture, this Okinawa soba noodle restaurant is so popular, lines of waiting customers form outside its door. Operating out of an Okinawan style wooden Japanese home with a red tile roof, the restaurant's tatami mat seating gives it an old fashioned, Showa period atmosphere. The establishment's medium thick noodles are served in a fairly thick skipjack tuna based broth.
