Ajisai season is really popular in Japan and a lot of the places in and around Tokyo get super crowded, but this place is like a quiet little haven. Make sure to save this one so you know where to go for the next Ajisai season! The backstory of this place is really interesting too. Over 50 years ago, a local man named Chikara Akiguchi began planting hydrangeas on this mountain slope, one by one, h...

Reviews Summary

Ajisai is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh sashimi and seafood, often described as the best in the area, complemented by attentive service and a good sake selection. However, some diners have experienced disappointing service and found certain dishes, like Pad Thai and tempura, to be greasy or bland, leading to varied opinions on value for money.

"Wonderful. The chef's cooking was perfect. The sashimi I had there was the best I have had in a very long time of living in Japan
Service was great. Price was VERY reasonable. About 4000- 5000 yen per person including a few drinks and you'll leave very satisfied. Of you're a non drinker probably 2000-3000 would do it. They thankfully have an English menu available too."

Pete Heyhoe

"Service was very bad. Over priced and food wasn’t very good. Avoid if you can."

"(Translated by Google) I used it when I went on a trip to Shodoshima with my friend and family.
Since it was a three-day holiday, only those who had made advance reservations were able to enter.
It felt somewhat nostalgic, like an old-fashioned izakaya.
The food was very delicious.
Great food when served! It got me in the mood for traveling. Everything on the menu I ordered was delicious. Especially the soup is amazing!
You can see that they take a lot of time and effort to make the soup stock. I want to make it at home, but I don't think it would be possible to reproduce it lol
I regret that I should have bought Nozawana Nori as a souvenir.

Thank you to the general and staff for the meal! !
