What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ramen Jigen is highly praised for its unique Toyama Black Ramen, which offers a rich soy sauce broth that can be adjusted for saltiness. Diners appreciate the friendly, English-speaking staff and the value offered in set meals, which often include local specialties like croquettes and rice balls. While the black ramen is a standout, some find the broth can be intense, though customization options are available.
"I've been apprehensive about trying black ramen because there have been a lot of instances where even "normal" ramen shops have been too salty for me, but this was delicious. The black shouyu was lighter than expected, and it almost had a refreshing taste. It was still a little too salty to drink the broth on its own, but it was delicious with the noodles! Bean sprout topping is a MUST.
There was a line of maybe 9 people in front of me, but it moved relatively fast, and service was very efficient."

"Friendly staff, a delicious bowl of ramen with a yummy hot croquette and a scrumptious rice ball to help with the strong flavor. I went for the full soy sauce flavor and do not regret it. The guy behind me ordered extra chashu and I probably should have too!"
