"Total gem of a restaurant. 12 generation of family run business serving traditional kaiseki meals. We had a lunch course sitting in the gorgeous garden at the back. The food, the service, and atmosphere were all exquisite. All vegetarian which were unique, innovative and tasty. One of the best meals we had in Japan."

"We booked ahead on machiya locals. The first five courses were incredible, just unique and beautifully presented. After that we were starting to get pretty full, but they continued with slightly less decorative with more food, and were all excellent. The staff were great and explained everything in English. The dessert was relatively simple fruit with wine jelly but soo good. They recommended a cold sake that incredibly smooth, just really nice accompaniment to the meal. The tempura had little round balls and was really delicious. Just a really unique dining experience."

"Wow! Kakusho is amazing Shojin ryori (vegetarian). The food, service, and atmosphere are all 5 stars! The presentation was immaculate and detailed. All the people there are really friendly and know English pretty well! My partner is vegetarian and she really enjoyed it! It was definitely a highlight of our trip! Would highly recommend booking lunch or dinner for a unique experience."
