What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Asakusa Imahan is highly praised for its exceptional sukiyaki and melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef, often described as a highlight of Tokyo dining. The traditional Japanese ambiance and attentive service, including English-speaking staff, are frequently commended. However, some find the experience to be quite expensive, with one review noting poor value for money regarding portion sizes of vegetables.
"Their lunch special is an absolute steal! We came by on a weekday afternoon and the wait was around 30 minutes (convenience stores were just across the store for emergency snacks). They even provided sun umbrellas as we got closer to the entrance and inside the front entrance there were also indoor benches with AC. We had not even stepped into the restaurant yet and the service was already a 10/10!
My first visit I dined on the first floor and this time I was so surprised when the staff directed us to remove our shoes before walking on the tatami mats. We got a pass for our shoes then took the elevator up. The mats felt so smooth and cool under my feet. As soon as the elevator doors opened, we were greeted by a server in a kimono who led us to our table in the dining area. The dining area is so spacious, pretty and brightly lit too. The atmosphere was very serene.
We went with the lunch specials (gyudon and sukiyaki). As we waited, we were given hot towels to clean our hands and served hot tea. This meal was just what I needed. It was simple but so delicious. My sukiyaki set had a few giant pieces of super tender beef, mushrooms, vegetables and a sunny egg yolk in the middle of my rice bowl. It was so much food I could almost barely finish it. After we finished eating, we were served green tea as well. The meal was absolutely amazing! It's a simple dish but the service and atmosphere really elevated the whole dining experience.
The bathrooms also deserved a shout out. There was carpeting, slippers to wear as well as a bidet had a sensor and also a drying function!
This is definitely the place to bring first timers or out of town visitors for sure. It's sure to impress from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave."

"An amazing way to cap off my vacation adventure than with some sukiyaki.
I managed to get a solo table for myself without reservation as it was not too busy. The appetizers provided were each unique, fresh and helps to wet your appetite for the main course. The sukiyaki experience was nothing short but exceptional with the highlight being the marbled beef as it soft, juicy and well marbled. When combined with raw egg and sukiyaki sauce, the beef experience was elevated to GOD level flavors. When I conveyed my lovely experience to my server, she gave me a gift and help me take a picture in front of the restaurant to commemorate my experience!
Overall, I highly recommend as the experience from start to end was nothing but excellent and memoreable which I still recall fondly till this day."
