Reviews Summary
Godaime Hanayama Udon Ginza is renowned for its uniquely wide, flat Himokawa udon noodles, a dish that has earned them prestigious awards. While the udon itself is a highlight, many diners also praise the delicious tempura and the restaurant's pleasant atmosphere. However, be prepared for significant wait times, as the restaurant is incredibly popular and does not take reservations, though a QR code system helps manage the queue.
"There’s always a line here so be prepared! You may not get in if it’s too busy! We got there an hour before they opened, right when they brought out the machine, and we were in the first seating at 11am.
It wasn’t hard to kill an hour in the area, there’s plenty of coffee shops and other things to do while you wait. I know many of the complaints are on lines, but that’s the reality of trying popular spots in Japan, especially with the current tourist boom.
This place is known for their flat, fat, udon noodles. We tried both the hot broth style and the cold dip style. I preferred the broth style, but it’s good to try both to see what you like. You’re served an interesting tea with sugar candy along with your food. The tea is strong and flavourful, the sugar candy is interesting as well.
Now onto the udon, it’s got a very nice and smooth texture. It’s also gigantic slabs, so each noodle is like 2 feet long. They are expertly made and taste of quality. Each bowl is also quite filling, but enough to leave room for dessert later.
It’s worth the wait if you are an udon fan. I highly recommend aiming to get the first seating, otherwise you will be waiting a long while. And if you’re with a large party, split up for ease of entry."

"It took me two tries to actually get into the restaurant. While the restaurant opens at 11 am, you need to get there by 10 am, if not earlier to get a numbered ticket to queue. Happy I made the effort to return. I loved the flat udon noodles with the sesame dipping sauce. I also really enjoyed the maitake mushroom tempura."

"Found this spot off of social media! The thickest of noods!
Personally ordered:
deep fried shrimp with mitsuba (450 yen, ~$3 USD)
tempura assortment udon set 1950 yen, ~$13 USD)
a few beers
Huge fan of the texture of the noodles. The tempura was fried well too.
Although there might be a line...it moves relatively quickly.
Total ended up being $22.72. You pay as you leave and they are super efficient splitting up the bill in the end."
