Reviews Summary
L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon offers a unique modern French dining experience with counter seating and an open kitchen, praised for its exquisite desserts and value lunch menus. While many commend the high-quality ingredients and culinary artistry, some reviews mention inconsistent service and a decline in food quality compared to previous visits. Despite occasional service hiccups, the restaurant remains a noteworthy destination for those seeking a refined yet accessible French meal.
"Had Joel lunch in HK, it’s ok, overrated to be honest, kinda like most of the reviews here for Tokyo, what impress me the most is the bakery, their pastries is a MUST try!
Even in HK, the breads are really amazing, consistent high quality.
The French do make amazing pâtisseries 👍🏻
You can skip the meal & just turn left directly to the bakery section.
Highly recommend this spring limited roll, not too sweet raspberry jam inside, the sugar powdered crispy & buttery taste is amazing!"

"At the start of the meal, I requested for white grape juice but the server came back with a bottle of red grape juice. That's fine, no big deal.
Bones in the fish. I informed the staff and received an apology.
Chocolate dessert was an assembly of sweet on sweet and I had a hard time finishing it. The chocolate tasted rather ordinary.
The plate for the bread was so small. I could see other customers having crumbs all over the place as well.
No hand towels were provided. For a restaurant which serves starters, bread, desserts, etc which uses hands, it would be appropriate. I thought it was common for Michelin restaurants in Japan to provide them but not this time.
There is a decoration in front of my table which is obstructive for the servers. They had to bend awkwardly to reach the right side of my table for water and utensils. It came to a point the staff decided to unprofessionally place all the utensils on my left. The bread basket was also removed before I was done with it as it contributed to the obstruction.
I requested for tap water and tried to confirm a second time with the server. The server took my glass away and came back. I assumed it was tap water but was charged 1500 yen for a glass of water.
The drinks are expensive. The 5 dishes meal cost 13800 yen. Water and juice are priced at 1500 yen. 10 glasses of non-alcoholic drinks would cost more than the Michelin meal.
The overall bill came to be 18479 yen for the 5 dishes meal plus a glass of juice and a glass of water."

"I have been coming to this restaurant since 2003 when roppongi hills just stated to run the business.
We love the food here very much so
This year I paid a visit again to my favorite restaurant at all time while in my staying in Tokyo.
Unfortunately, the service has been really disappointing, the manager who serving us was not friendly and not professional.
He did not give us or explain to us what the special is on the menu, but he did it to the Japanese people.
And what’s more , he over charge us by paying more bottle of water on the bills!
I found this is very dishonest with this behavior and should never happen in a such fine dining.
Over 20 years of loyal customer, I am truly disappointing the way it is now. From the professional service to stuffing management, everything is go down hills.
A Big disappointment 👎"
