Reviews Summary

Michishirube is celebrated for its delicious yakitori and unique dishes like Abura Soba, served in a lively Shinjuku atmosphere. While the food and passionate staff receive high praise, securing a reservation can be challenging, and some diners have experienced difficulty with foreign language communication and walk-in policies.

"Like some others already mentioned, I saw this place on YouTube and wanted to try it. They have an odd reservation system, but walk ins sometimes get lucky, we got lucky on our 3rd or 4th try. We sat at the “bar” and had really fun time with the guys running this joint. The food was good, the drinks were plentiful, and the vibe is really cool. Definitely worth a try."

"Perfect place! Make reservation before at least 1 month before coming. Yakitori was so delicious. You need to also try ramen, perfect taste. Maybe you need to mention about eating ramen while making reservation. English speaking is not so good but all of the personel are so friendly and lovely. So you will not have any problem with communucating. And the owner is just awesome! :) Strongly recommended!"

"We stopped by Michishirube Yakitori place before their opening time at 6pm, hoping to snag a table, but unfortunately, it was fully booked. Miko San told us we could come back at 10.30pm, and we did! It turned out to be the best decision ever. We loved the food, the vibes, the staff, and the cool chefs. Even though most of the parts were sold out, Miko San recommended whatever was left, including the Abura Soba [Maze Soba], which was to die for!

If any of you are in the Shinjuku Kabukicho area, you've got to try this. Good luck finding this place 🙃

The Best Restaurants In Shinjuku According To Food Expert Akemi Ito

I was born and raised in Shinjuku, so I’ve tried many restaurants,” says Ito. “I strongly recommend trying yakitori [chicken skewers] at MichiShirube. Many tourists go to Omoide or Golden Gai, but the yakitori there is much more expensive and tastes just OK even though the atmosphere is cool.

A small, hole-in-the-wall place that serves fresh, tasty grilled chicken skewers. With a fun, poppy atmosphere in the back alleys of Shinjuku’s red-light district, this place is sure to be a tasty and vibrant memory. And if you like this kind of vibe, be sure to check out Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho, they are areas that are home to similar establishments.
