Reviews Summary

Sushi Yajima offers an authentic, high-quality omakase experience at an exceptional price, praised for its fresh sushi and the warm hospitality of the owner couple. However, some diners find the strict 30-minute time limit and fast-paced service to be stressful and detract from the overall enjoyment.

"Reservation only, worth the price, approx. 4900 yen. Shotgun style and I ate way too fast, so I didnt take all the photos. It would have been nice to take a bit slower, as we finished in 20 mins. But I understand, as they only open for lunch and limit to 30 mins to provide high-quality sushi with great price. I was full and satisfied. Sushi rice was sticky and well-seasoned, the chef skillfully formed it just enough to hold it together, so when you eat it, it melts and falls apart in your mouth. Its worth trying. The best sushi I had was at the inner fish market and waited for 2 hours. I would prefer this reservation-only option with no wait time."

"Got this place recommended by a coworker who lived in Japan for 15 years so I trusted his judgement. This was a very unique, delicious and funny experience. The chef and his wife are true entertainers. You do indeed need to prepare for a fast lunch, you won’t have time to take pictures and mingle. You get a new sushi while your mouth is still full. So keep that in mind and you will enjoy the freshest sushi! You need to make a reservation so we asked our hotel staff to help make a call for us since we can’t call here and that worked out well."

10 Best Sushi Restaurants in Shibuya

This place has been running for more or less 37 years and it’s managed by the sweet old couple who love to make their customers feel at home every single day!. It is located in the basement level of Oshima building but you can see the restaurant’s name in signage in Japanese characters displayed outside “やじま” so it is not so difficult to find. The building’s outer concept is made of reddish bricks formed together like a perfect puzzle to make the entire place more appealing than the others.
