Reviews Summary

T's Tantan is celebrated for its innovative and delicious vegan ramen, particularly the golden and black sesame varieties. Diners appreciate the flavorful broths and the unique dandan noodles, with many highlighting the gyoza as a great accompaniment. While the food is highly praised, some find the restaurant difficult to locate within the vast Tokyo Station.

"Good place to stop by for vegetarian or vegan food in Japan. The noodle is tasty as well as gyoza.

Take out bento available as well but only 2 choices. Bento rice with vegan char siew and gyoza or 12 pieces of gyoza. Good choice for takeout for shinkansen ride.

The restaurant located right beside 3coin,follow keiyo line sign."

"As a vegan family of five, T's TanTan was a very convenient option located within Tokyo Station. We stopped here for lunch before our Shinkansen to Kyoto and after returning from Tokyo Disney Resort. Our first visit was around 1:00 PM with a wait of about 15 minutes, which was expected given our larger group. On our second visit, we went closer to opening time (around 11:15 AM), and there was no wait at all. We enjoyed all of dishes we got here including the black sesame ramen, golden sesame ramen, rice bowl, and gyoza. Surprisingly, my favorite ended up being the rice bowl. In the end, though, my family agreed that we had better ramen at other places throughout Tokyo. I was expecting to be blown away because of all the high praise, but we were unfortunately let down a little bit. Also, both times we ate here, the dining area was very warm to the point that many of us started to swear. That’s not to say it wasn’t a good bowl of ramen; it just didn’t quite live up to the hype for us."

"Delicoia vegan ramen inside JR Tokyo station (yes it's inside the station, not outside). The location is really hard to find -- it's on the 1F near the escalator to JR 京葉線 (Keiyo Line) platform. There are so many line inside of JR Tokyo station so be patient to find the place.

The ramens are pretty good. Personally I wish they could have more protein for better nutrition. The veggie gyozas weren't as impressed as ramen so next time I'll just order the ramen."

10 best restaurants inside Tokyo Station: sushi, ramen, unagi, dessert and more

T’s Tantan, an offshoot of Jiyugaoka eatery T’s Restaurant, boasts the distinction of having been one of the first places to sell proper vegan ramen in Tokyo. A feature inside Tokyo Station for well over a decade now, they specialise in Chinese-style dandanmen, served in a broth flavoured with sesame and peanut oil and available with a range of toppings. There are three versions of the dandan noodles – the white, black or ‘gold’ (it comes with peanuts) sesame, all of which have a creamy enough finish to trick you into thinking there were animals involved in the process.

Vegan Guide to Tokyo

Firstly, be prepared to get lost and not be able to find this 100% vegan ramen joint, it doesn’t matter how many blog posts and reviews we read with directions it was still pretty tricky to find, but well worth the effort as T’s Tantan serves some of the best ramen we’ve ever tried. Our first visit was in the morning when they offer a limited menu (before 10am) which includes just 4 dishes, we selected the ‘Tantan Noodles’ and the ‘Shouyu Ramen’ which cost around 700 JPY each or $6 USD. The ‘Tantan Noodles’ were in rich, creamy and flavour packed broth causing one member of our team to declare they were in “Noodle Heaven”.

This place has a couple of locations in Tokyo; we visited the one in Ueno, conveniently located inside Ueno station (near the Park exit, and next to a NewsDay konbini). We really recommend you try this one instead of the one in Tokyo station, because it’s very easy to find, and the area near the station is incredible to explore, with a gorgeous park, shrines, several museums, and the zoo nearby (where you can see twin pandas!). The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and food is served fast.

This noodle-filled vegan haven is a little tricky to locate in the labyrinth that is JR Tokyo Station, but it’s well worth hunting down!. The nearest exit is JR Yaesu South, and it’s right at the end of the Keiyo Street shopping arcade, on the way to the Keiyo line platform (you’ll need a platform ticket to access this area). Specialising in utterly mouth-watering bowls of vegan tantanmen, T’s Tantan swaps out the traditional pork for soy meat, but keeps the rich sesame broth as the base.

T’s Restaurant and T’s Tantan, like any other vegan restaurant, do not use any animal ingredients such as meat, seafood, eggs, and dairy products in their dishes. However, one thing that makes T’s special is that you can eat curry, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), hamburger steak, ramen, dumplings and etc, that are cooked “plant-based” and people line up the long queues to eat T’s Tantan’s famous ramen (noodle soup).
