What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Nakamura Tokichi Honten is celebrated for its exceptional matcha desserts, particularly the Maruto Parfait, which many find to be a divine culinary experience. While the food quality is highly praised, the overwhelming popularity often leads to extremely long wait times, a significant drawback for many visitors. Despite the queues, the authentic atmosphere and high-quality ingredients make it a memorable destination for matcha enthusiasts.
"It took us almost 45 mins to get the seat. We were there around 1pm but actually there is always people there so you can get the que and watch around the city while waiting.
We ordered the green curry rice and soba.
I loved it. It is dense taste but not so strong that you feel you can’t eat.
Amazing creation menu.
The green tea parfait also nice as well.
They have a wide range of souvenier about green tea things. You can shop whatever you want."

"Waited for over an hour but the good thing is they give you a QR that you can use to track your position online. So go in early, get your QR and you can roam around doing something until your position is called in. They hold it for a maximum of 10 minutes when it's your turn so keep and eye on the position.
Coming to the atmosphere, we say outside overlooking the garden and they have heaters above your head so you don't feel cold. They also provide you blankets if you still feel cold. Mind you that this is during the end of winter.
We ordered the soba, parfait. They also provide you a lot of tea that you can sip while you wait for the food.
The soba was surprisingly good and the soup was flavorful. The parfait was just good and is super heavy. One soba and one parfait is enough for two persons.
It's good for the matcha experience in Uji but nothing special."
