Run by Voyages (which currently has 38% Indigenous employment), it operates as a national Indigenous training academy where up to 100 young Indigenous Australians embark on a hospitality career each year.

We had a light lunch at Kulata Academy which is an Indigenous training cafe. I loved the premise of this cafe, and the spinach and cheese roll was quite tasty, but the salad was lack lustre. We also had a meal at Gecko’s Cafe, I had the ribs which were overly sweet and fatty and I left most of it behind.

While many of the hotels offer breakfast for an extra price, this is most often buffet food. Instead of opting for this, we decided to have breakfast at one of the little cafes in Yulara centre. The first morning, we went to Kulata Academy Café.

This coffee shop in the Town Square has great coffee and food, too!. This business also supports hospitality education for the indiginous people of the area. We stopped in for lunch after hiking the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta.

Chasing a decent coffee one morning, I stumbled on Kulata Academy Cafe, a cafe that offers trainees of the National Indigenous Training Academy an opportunity to grow their skills needed for a career in hospitality.

We enjoyed a quick lunch at the Kulata Academy Cafe and Arnguli Grill. For an unforgettable meal among nature, Tali Wiru is a four-course evening dinner experience set outdoors and inspired by the landscape.

It is fairly easy to walk to most of the restaurants, but as mentioned, you can also take the shuttle. We opted for the Geckos Cafe most of the time because it was the closest casual option to our hotel.

As such, Arnguli Grill & Restaurant brings out fine dining vibes, whereas Kulata Academy Cafe maintains an informal ambience – together, both showcasing Australian flavours through their menus.

Anyone staying at the Ayers Rock Resort need to put the Kulata Academy Cafe on there must try list. Service by the staff was excellent. Thank you all for the lovely service and yummy food.

In terms of picking up our morning coffee, we either went to the Kulata Academy Cafe or the coffee cart in Town Square. Mr SnS also BYO-ed his own stove top coffee maker and ground beans.
