Reviews Summary
Rozengrāls offers an incredibly atmospheric medieval dining experience, transporting guests back in time with its decor and costumed staff. While many rave about the unique ambiance and some dishes like the French onion soup, a few diners found the food to be bland and overpriced, with one reviewer noting negative interactions with staff.
"The experience is extraordinary—I've never eaten in such an atmospheric restaurant. Overall, the food is good and served in a unique way. The service was quick, and the waiter was really friendly. Prices are very high, but I still recommend going and experiencing it for yourself—it's truly worth trying at least once. You genuinely feel like you've stepped back in time. Plus, you can pay by card—no need to bring gold or silver coins!"

"I had no idea this restaurant actually opened in 1293. How authentic! The look of the building, inside and out, is so incredible. Candles lighting up the whole medieval restaurant, a real well, wax-covered walls passed the holding cell, a great bar with balsams, beer, and plenty of other wines and liquors… what a place! All the food was magnificent! The rye bread and garlic sauce was easily the best bread I’ve had in my LIFE. The duck was tender, the red cabbage almost had cranberry flavor to it that made it excellent, the rabbit stew was pretty good, the venison soup was piping hot but delicious and in a really cool cauldron, and the pumpkin pie was more like a tart but pretty decent! Easily the best meal, and it was more than a meal: it was an experience (with incredibly friendly staff!)"

"This place was very cool! We were a group of 3 and got seated right away. Each dish had its own story for where it came from, and the ambiance with real candles and medieval decorations was super nice. Even the waiters and waitresses were dressed in old-time clothes.
The kvass was sweet and DELICIOUS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the french onion soup. It wasn't like your typical french onion soup you get today since it's based on the historical recipe, but it was very delicious. It was also on a cool, real metal cauldron. The pork shank was good, but we have had better. If you like pumpkin, the puff pastry with pumpkin and green beans was good, especially the white sauce it came with. Just note: the portions ARE BIG. For 3 people we finished 2 soups but struggled finishing the puff pastry and shank.
Highly recommend!"
