Rozengrāls (Vinarium civitatis rigensis)

No. 1 Rozena Street used to be a medieval wine cellar , all but forgotten until it was turned into a huge medieval-themed restaurant, Rozengrals. The rooms are not truly medieval, but have vaulted ceilings and pillars, all illuminated by candlelight. Waiters even wear period-appropriate costume; it may be touristy, but that doesn’t make it less pleasant.

Rozengrals is a very unique and fun spot for dinner in Riga – it's a medieval-themed eatery with rustic menu items from as far back as the 15th century, plus the staff are dressed up as knights!. This restaurant is located inside a fragment of the medieval city wall, built in 1201 and it really feels like you've stepped back in time when you arrive. While many of the dishes are also old, they're still delicious, whether you want to dine on rabbit stew, a spit-fired piglet or traditional apple strudel, you will leave feeling satisfied and entertained!

The medieval-style hotel in the old city, underground, the facade is very inconspicuous, I don't know there is a hotel at all, there is a medieval-style old man at the door knocking on the instrument that I can't understand, just to attract attention, go in and see, there is no cave. The taste of the dish is generally the same, the wine is good, the bread is very special, wrapped in a cloth pocket, but a bit hard. The price is OK, the consumption is cheaper than Shanghai.

Die Zimmer sind nicht wirklich mittelalterlich, haben aber gewölbte Decken und Säulen, die alle bei Kerzenlicht beleuchtet sind. Kellner tragen sogar zeitgemäße Kostüme; es kann touristisch sein, aber das macht es nicht weniger angenehm.

This medieval-themed restaurant takes you back to the 15th century, offering a unique dining experience in the heart of the Old Town. The menu features medieval recipes, and the ambiance is as authentic as the food.

There are almost no electronic lights, and swords and armor are hanging on the walls. And you won’t even find Coca-Cola on the menu card. The reason is it wouldn’t be immersive in contrast to everything else.

From the entrance at the street level the clients descend down into the dungeons of medieval Riga. Everything is well done and presented at the table. Delicious venison and i do advise the onion soup.
