Fresh pastas are a specialty (they make their own gnocchi), served in generous portions and usually topped with parsley and cheese.We recommend the Linguine Crab, a scrumptious little affair with chunks of crab meat and cherry tomatoes tossed in Aglio Olio style — it’s probably the best Italian linguine this side of Malaysia.Oh, and if you have a birthday coming up, they do a little song for you too — just order dessert.

In fact, this was some of the best Italian food we've ever had, rivalling some of the highly-rated restaurants back home in London.

There’s this great Italian place we absolutely loved that’s called Il Bacaro – and it’s right at the heart of Penang. It’s located in the Campbell House, and it’s one that you shouldn’t miss out on if you’re in the area!. Going in, we didn’t expect much as we always think that restaurants outside of Italy couldn’t really capture that cuisine’s authenticity.

It's housed in the award-winning Campbell House boutique hotel, which was built in 1903. The eye-catching colonial facade is certainly the pull factor, yet the arches and alcoves and even the floorings share equal pride once your step in.

Campbell House’s Il Bacaro provides a taste of La Dolce Vita. You may unwind with traditional comfort meals like handmade gnocchi and delicious tiramisu. Serving exclusively Italian products and according to Mamma’s family recipes, they provide genuine, freshly prepared Italian cuisine created with seasonal seafood and vegetables.

This restaurant in Georgetown has received numerous awards, including the Michelin. Il Bacaro is a little Italian sanctuary delivering a sense of La Dolce Vita while in Penang, despite the fact that Penang has fantastic street food. Take comfort in traditional favorites like homemade gnocchi and delectable tiramisu. Even tourists from Napoli have praised our pizzas.

Real talk = I’m always feeling a little Italian (if you know what I mean, sorry, mom). Il Bacaro is inside the wonderfully restored Campbell House Boutique Hotel. It’s owned by hubs and wife duo Roberto and Nardya, who are just lovely.

Il Bacaro is a great spot for those looking to get their comfort food fix. This is an Italian style restaurant that did not disappoint with anything that we tried.

This was a hard choice, but our top three places are Teksen, Aunty Gaik Lean's Old Eatery, and Il Bacaro.
