With an evening 2 or 3 course set menu, we loved the Chicken Kapitan’s creamy, charred goodness, while the otak-otak puffs for starters were absolutely brilliant.

Typical of this group are Penang's best restaurants Opera, Via Pre, Madras New Woodlands, Heaven Gate Restaurant & Lounge, Dining Room in Georgetown and Feringgi Grill, Tree Monkey in Batu Ferringi. From the get-go, we immediately saw how classy and exclusive this restaurant felt.

Their incredibly imaginative recipes incorporate traditional Malaysian flavor profiles, Thai spiciness, and Vietnamese lightness, all combined with traditional French culinary skills. Kebaya’s inventive produce puts surprising new takes on this already amazing dish.

Like something straight out of a movie set, Kebaya Dining Room is part of the Georgetown Heritage Hotels portfolio. History and integrity comingle at this Straits Chinese restaurant which welcomes creative flourishes while honouring the canon of Baba-Nyonya cuisine.

In George Town we also dined heavily at China House, which unlike the name suggests, is a modern cafe come restaurant, come cocktail bar and gallery. Who says you need the city for all the things you love?
