Reviews Summary
Tek Sen Restaurant is celebrated for its authentic and delicious Chinese-Malaysian cuisine, with the caramelized pork belly being a standout. While many praise the flavorful dishes and reasonable prices, be prepared for significant queues, especially during peak hours. The service is noted as efficient, though sometimes described as fast-paced.
"When we arrived, the queue was super long at this Michelin restaurant. It was a good thing our friend made a reservation (minimum 6 pax to get a table), which was why we were led to our table at the rear of the restaurant, much like private dining once we arrived.
The food lived up to the Michelin stars. I personally liked the sticky pork, I believe they cooked it in caramel!.
The restaurant definitely is a must try, but don't do a walk-in, else I think it will easily be an hour queue.
Forgot to add that the price was very reasonable too."

"Well this place was famous. I was told it's the best stir fried restaurant by my friends whom visited. Locals told me not to waste time. I tried anyway and the locals are definitely right. Very average stir fry style restaurant. Good part is everything not too salty. Other than their honey roast pork is more special, nothing is outstanding. I could walk in to any of my neighbourhood store and get similar quality stuff easily. Only plus point is quick and warm service and very nostalgic old building. Other than that a very mid restaurant which is popular."

"Highly recommended place to eat. The food is good, service is quick, but because it is super crowded, it could be a little squeezed up. Sticky Pork is super nice. Plum Chicken is also good. And the veggies are fresh! Would be a nice choice to have meal with family. They have small portion and large portion which can be suited to your group size."

The 10 Best Chinese Restaurants In Penang
The menu at Tek Sen Restaurant is extensive, and often so is the queue (come early if you don’t want to take a number). Its reputation harks all the way back to the ’80s, ever since the restaurant began serving its delightful caramelised pork belly and deep-fried belachan chicken (pieces of chicken deep-fried with spicy shrimp paste). In fact, the food here is so good the restaurant will probably outlive most of us in the end.

EatingAsia: Penang
Our first meal here was in 2009, back when Teochew-Chinese-Malaysian restaurant Tek Sen was a glorified stall with tables occupying an alley and a five-foot way, before it had a Facebook page and an illustrated menu and a few years before its mention in a Lonely Planet guide made tourists as often seen here as locals. When Tek Sen tripled its capacity by relocating to its current double shophouse premises we feared the worst. But quality has remained high, probably because the family that opened the place 25 or so years ago is still on hand, in the kitchen and the front of the house, to insure that your bacon candy is every bit as savory-salty-sweet-lardy as it should be.
