What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sambal Hijau Restaurant is celebrated for its extensive and authentic Malay village cuisine, with a particular highlight on its signature sambals and grilled fish. Diners appreciate the wide variety, clear pricing, and convenient parking. While the 'trust system' and self-service for food can be a unique experience, some mention that service for drinks and billing can be less hands-on.
"If you have not been here before, definitely come and try out this place. Malay/Indonesian type mixed rice with dishes. My first time here was really a great experience. A bit difficult to come since it's out of town. The good thing is they have a parking lot, just drive inside. Parking is free. Come for lunch is best, just before the lunch rush. So many varieties of food and dishes and all looks so enticingly delicious. Just take a place of rice and take whatever food you want. Then go sit down and the assistant will come to take order for drinks and write the bill for the food. Pay after eating. First time here, tried the turmeric fried fish eggs which was delicious and not too expensive. Vegetables are fresh. Price was better than I expected. Will come back to try the many other dishes. Highly recommended."

"The dishes choice is just vast. Chicken, fish, seafood come in different style of cooking. Fresh ulam is also available. The cleanliness is grade A. Plenty of parking at the rear of the restaurant.
You choose your dishes, proceed to your table and the staff will come over to tally the cost of your meal. Onlt then you can start enjoying your food. QR code is used to order drinks."

"Great food choice, a lot of people but very organized system makes it easy to get your food and drinks. Price not too bad, provides free parking as well"
