Reviews Summary

Wong Ah Wah is a popular, bustling street-side restaurant on Jalan Alor, famed for its iconic BBQ chicken wings that are crispy and juicy. While many praise the wings and some seafood dishes, other items like satay and some stir-fries receive mixed reviews. Service can be hectic and occasionally perceived as rude, but the vibrant atmosphere and authentic flavors make it a memorable experience for tourists and locals alike.

"There’s air-conditioned and outdoor seatings. Don’t expect good service, the staff were kinda hostile but it’s ok, just go there for the food.

The chicken wings (RM4.50 each) were the best dish, rarely have bbq wings that have crispy skin.

Chicken Satay (RM1.80 each) was kinda dry but very flavorful.

Stingray/ Roast Fish (RM 50) is very fresh.

Dai Lok Mee (RM13.50) was alright."

H L

"Satay is so rough and hard to chew. Meat also doesn’t taste fresh.

Wings were good.

Sting ray was better than expected. Very flavorful and soft.

Carrot juice… it’s the worst carrot juice I have had. Just super water down and got no taste at all."

Kelly C

"The food tastes average, nothing fancy. Most of the grilled fish’s are tasteless. Staff is very hectic but helpful. This is a very busy restaurant among tourists. Decent time taken to serve the food but not all at once. Some came at the end. The fresh drinks are a waste. Better to drink some soda. Outside seating area is very hot. No fans. Try the noodles and fried rice. One two things we found tasty. 😋"

Kuala Lumpur is a fusion of multiple cultures that intertwine and overlap. I often take overseas friends to places like Wong Ah Wah on Jalan Alor, where the bustling street offers a unique experience beyond just the food. I also enjoy exploring spots like Queen’s Restaurant on Peel Road for its hearty sup kambing (mutton soup) and nasi lemak.

Kuala Lumpur Seriously Has The Tastiest Food!!

Our next stop was the “Mickey Mouse restaurant on Jalan Alor,” i.e. the restaurant with a sign that seemingly rips off Disney… It is called Wong Ah Wah Restaurant and is known for its chicken wings. Unlike the other places that we had stopped on this tour, Wong Ah Wah Restaurant is actually a sit down restaurant and it was packed when we arrived. Here, we sat with one of TK’s tour guide friends (also, a huge foodie), which was very fun.
