Reviews Summary
My Village Barok is praised for its authentic Sarawakian cuisine and unique traditional village ambiance. Diners highlight signature dishes like Ayam Ketok and Midin Belacan, along with the immersive cultural experience. However, some reviews point to inconsistencies in service and occasional issues with food preparation or presentation.
"Tried the nasi ketok, midin belacan
and manok pansuh—the nasi ketok was a standout.
The owner was welcoming and highly knowledgeable about Sarawakian culture. I also enjoyed the opportunity to try on traditional attire.
Getting there was easy with Grab, but finding a ride back to the hotel was challenging. Fortunately, the jetty was within walking distance, so we opted for a boat ride instead—a unique and unexpected way to end the visit."

"Don’t worry if you see people queuing outside — they’re likely buying something else from the front. Just go straight into the restaurant and grab a seat. I came to try Sarawak traditional dishes and it was worth it!
I ordered:
Nasi Putih Beras Wangi – RM2.50
Air Sejuk – RM0.50
Sayur Midin Belacan (Small) – RM14.00
Ayam Pansoh – RM20.00
Total: RM37.00
The Ayam Pansoh came with 4–5 pieces, definitely good for 3–4 people. If you're dining alone, maybe ask if they can serve a smaller portion for the same price to avoid wastage. The food is delicious — very clean and healthy-tasting. I think Chinese and foreigners diners would love the freshness and simplicity of the flavours.
Also love the kampung-style interior — warm, nostalgic, and cozy. They even have floor seating upstairs, just like in the old days — really brings back that traditional vibe."

"My first time here and already loving the food. Everything tasted good and I had a feast, accompanied by a good friend. A hidden gem, a bit far off where I stayed but it was worth the half hour trip. A good recommendation, friend!"
