Reviews Summary

Ee Ji Ban Chicken Rice Ball offers a unique take on a Malaysian favorite, with many praising the authentic Hainanese chicken rice balls and tender chicken. However, some diners found the experience disappointing, citing small portions and a lack of flavor in certain dishes, as well as concerns about pricing and value for money. The restaurant is generally clean with friendly service, though occasional issues like mosquitoes have been noted.

"I finally tried this place today, a spot highly recommended by locals! It wasn't crowded at all, which seems to be the case if you avoid Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The food was absolutely delicious – seriously, let the pictures do the talking! Everything I had, from the prawns, fish, and squid to their most popular dishes, was incredibly tasty. Honestly, you've just got to come and try it for yourself!"

Wariz Game

"Tried the chicken rice here and it was quite disappointing. The rice balls were very small, and the roasted chicken had no taste at all. The chilli sauce wasn’t nice either. I also ordered the sambal prawns — the portion was small and the prawns were tiny. Overall, not worth it. There are definitely better options elsewhere."

CAROL ANG

"We arrived at the shop lot restaurant at 1:15pm. Restaurant was still full of patrons - both outside restaurant as well as indoor.

Our party of three was lucky to secure a table when the diners ahead of us just completed their meals.

We knew exactly what we wanted as we read their reviews. We had their popular chicken rice balls (charged by the number of rice balls), their white and roasted chickens, oysters omelette and small plates of livers and gizzards. And our orders came with a large bowl of fish ball soup good for 3 pax.

Both the poached and roasted chicken meat were rather ordinary. The much talked about were simply “mashed cooked rice” squeezed into lumps bigger than fish ball size. Interesting but not something I would repeat ordering.

The oysters omelette was delicious; would be better if bigger sized oysters were used.

The complimentary fish ball soup was good. The fish balls were “bouncy”.👍

Overall, we felt that prices were a little on the steep side."

Top 27 Local Food In Malaysia Loved By Locals

Chicken rice is a fan favourite amongst almost everyone in Malaysia because of its comforting flavours. Its origins lie with the Hainanese community in Malaysia, where the traditional Hainanese chicken rice comprises poached chicken, fragrant rice cooked in chicken broth, and a side of tangy chilli sauce, garlic paste, a few cucumber slices, and a bowl of chicken broth. However, in Malaysia you’ll find that chicken rice is commonly served with either poached chicken or roasted chicken depending on the restaurant or hawker, with both being equally delicious!
