Reviews Summary
Hoe Kee Chicken Rice is a beloved institution, renowned for its signature chicken rice balls and tender chicken, often cited as the best in Melaka. Diners appreciate the flavorful rice and the surprisingly delicious stir-fried cabbage. While the chili sauce might be a hit or miss for some, and a few note a desire for softer textures in certain dishes, the fast service and reasonable prices make it a must-visit.
"Probably the best chicken rice balls I’ve had so far. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the food (plus soup) is really tasty. Definitely recommend."

We were supposed to try a different shop but it was closed the 2 times we tried to visit. On our 2nd try which was supposed to be for breakfast, we came across Hoe Kee Chicken Rice shop as it's only a few steps away from the entrance of Jonker Street / Walk (near San Shu Gong shop).
This was my first and only chicken rice ball experience so far and it did not disappoint! The chicken is very tender and juicy, while the rice balls were very flavorful. I even enjoyed the rice balls by itself, which I did not expect.
Since I enjoyed the meal, we came back the next day 😅 Looking forward to our next visit next time we're in Melaka."

"Melaka famous for its hainanese chicken riceball. Other than chilly sauce, the local people like to use dark black soy sauce to dip the chicken. The assam fish is nice, slight different from nyonya style, on their way managing the fish part."

We wrap up the whole meal with a plate of stir-fry cabbage RM3.00 (RM1.50 per head) since the lady boss highly recommends to us, just decided to have it since it was cheap and need to meet our fiber intake quota for that day. 😉 Guess our tongue was malfunctioning because we really felt that the stir-fried cabbage was the best dish we had throughout the meal (the first dish we cleared in Hoe Kee), cabbage has an irresistible crunchy texture and tend to be less greasy, super sweet and flavourful with a delightful scent of garlic – with this dish alone guess we can clear a plate of plain rice without any problem!. Price : 5.0 / 10 ( 1 – Expensive , 10 – Cheap) Taste : 7.0 / 10 ( 1 – Nightmare , 10 – Heaven).
