📍 Restaurant Ban Lee Siang 45-E, Jalan Ong...

Reviews Summary

Restaurant Ban Lee Siang is highly recommended for its authentic satay celup, offering a flavorful peanut sauce and a wide variety of fresh ingredients at affordable prices. While many praise the taste and interactive dining experience, some reviews mention issues with the ambiance, particularly on busy nights, and a few noted a decline in food quality or sauce dilution over time.

"There are three soup options: shared soup where everyone cooks together, a kitchen-prepared version, or a private pot for RM30.

We chose the private pot — more hygienic and you can take it home if you can’t finish.

The soup was fantastic! You can choose your own spice level or just add chilies to your plate.

Ingredients could be more varied, but overall still good.

Service was excellent — staff came over regularly to stir the pot and made sure nothing burned. They were also quick to respond to our requests, and patiently explained the soup options when we couldn’t decide.

The environment is simple but clean and comfortable."

"My first time trying Satay Celup and this place was definitely the right choice. They had a wide selection of skewers to choose from, the ingredients were fresh and topped up almost instantly.
The satay sauce was flavourful and addictive, but do note there is an additional charge of 30RM for a fresh pot of sauce, if not you would have to re-use sauce that has been consumed by previous customers.
They tend to get extremely crowded so try to be there before 8PM to beat the late dinner/supper crowds."

Joy Lau

"Make sure to go to the old shop with the black sign next door—don’t go to the one with the blue sign! The food is seriously, seriously, seriously delicious—legendary! The staff were super friendly too. The cucumber was really fresh, the chicken was tasty, and the bean curd skin, king oyster mushrooms, and abalone mushrooms were all amazing—honestly, almost everything was delicious!

The broth was rich and super fragrant, way better than the grilled satay skewers you usually get outside! (Of course, maybe I just haven’t had really good satay skewers before…) But seriously, if you’re in Melaka, I highly recommend coming here to eat! And the restaurant is very clean."
