**Opened since 1997, Restoran Aunty Lee is located in Ujong Pasir in Melaka and is a popular Peranakan restaurant in the UNESCO city. The kitchen is now helmed by Chef Anthony de Costa, a Malaccan of Eurasian heritage and seeks to serve the same simple and authentic Peranakan cuisine as the same spirits as Aunty Lee. The menu is extensive to say the least, where we managed to try some of our favourite Peranakan dishes.

Sadly, the founder of Aunty Lee Nyonya Restaurant passed away a few years ago. But before she passed away, she sold her business together with her treasured recipes to her group of friends, who are passionate about Nyonya and the Peranakan cuisine and culture.

Loved and recognized by even the Peranakans themselves, Aunty Lee has been serving authentic Baba Nyonya cuisine since 1996. When Uncle and Aunty Lee first started their business, they never imagined that their little restaurant could be this much of a prominence in Malacca. Many have since loved the humble couple's restaurant as the food is hearty, wholesome and genuine.

You may want to make reservations, as this place is generally full of people and those without reservations may have to wait in a very long line, and may not get in at all. You can even pre-order on their website so that your food is already ready when you arrive. It is owned by Uncle and Aunty Lee, who use generations of family recipes that are authentically Nyonya.

One of the most highly regarded Nyonya restaurants in Melaka is Restoran Aunty Lee. Since its establishment in 1997, this authentic Peranakan/Nyonya eatery has been delighting locals and tourists alike. Notable Melaka nyonya food include Cili Garam fish, Lemak Nanas prawns, sambal petai bilis, and bendi ulam, which have become favorites among patrons.

Established in 1997, Aunty Lee’s signature dish Ikan Cili Garam (salted chili fish), topped with spicy chili paste has been the most sought after street food in Melaka along with Udang Lemak Nenas (prawns dipped in pineapple and coconut gravy)!. Some of the other savories include Mutton curry, Ayam PongTeh, Bendi Ulam, and Cincalok Omelette.

Situated away from the hustle and bustle of Melaka’s tourist sites, Aunty Lee’s can still get pretty crowded because we Malaysians will travel for good food. Reservations by phone are encouraged if you’re okay with waiting in line. Ambience-wise, it’s a down to earth food spot with a simple interior and an adorable purple facade.

It also came recommended by the bibiks at the Peranakan musuem as dining alone is a challenge as it’s not possible to order lots of dishes. This otah was made with generous portions of fresh mackerel, instead of grilled over a charcoal stove, it was pan fried giving it a crisp outer layer, interesting and something different.

Aunty Lee’s Restaurant opened in 1997, and its location remains the same at present. Tucked away from the busiest parts of town, Aunty Lee serves authentic Peranakan cuisine to its customers who are locals and non-locals. However, the restaurant was taken over by Chef Anthony in 2014, who cooks as well as Aunty Lee did.

This restaurant serves only traditional Nyonya cuisine, inherited through generations. During working hours, restaurants are full of customers so you can reserve or order a meal on your website early. Ayam Buah Keluak, Ikan Goreng Cili Garam, Urang Masak Lemak Nenas and Cincalok Omelette are their popular foods.

Restoran Aunty Lee is the most authentic Nyonya food in Malacca. Moreover, if you have friends in Malacca, they will recommend you to come here as well. Besides, the variety of Nyonya dishes here even attracts foreign friends to visit.

Owned by Uncle and Aunty Lee, Restoran Aunty Lee serve only traditional Nyonya food which been passed down generations to generations. Reservations are recommended to avoid long queue. You may also make online reservations if needed.

My top choice (as of April 2016) goes to Samfu, Unicorn Cafe, Bulldog Cafe, Wok and Pan, Aunty Lee and for economical meals; Kafe Lin‘s.
