. . . . #michelin #estrellamichelin #c...

Reviews Summary

Esquina Común is widely praised for its innovative and delicious Mexican cuisine, impeccable service, and unique rooftop ambiance, earning it a Michelin star. Diners rave about the creative tasting menus and the overall special dining experience. However, a few reviews mention that the experience might not live up to the very high expectations set by the Michelin recognition, with some noting mediocre service or dishes that could be improved.

"What a blast from start to finish! We arrived during a brief downpour and while we were being escorted up the very cool stairway to the restaurant the electricity went out, but only for a minute or two. As we stepped into the dinning space the lights came back on and as my eyes adjusted I saw a member of the service team smiling at us and there wasn’t a hint of panic. She showed us to our table and the culinary tour de force began. The menu is small, so the four of us ordered two complete menus. Each dish was gorgeous. Perfect culinary delights with each course. The service was so on point, smiles were everywhere and the explanations of the dishes were so well done. I believe it is a bit tough to get a reservation, we lucked out as there was a cancellation and we were able to nab the table by going back the reservation system a few times and Viola! We were in. Do yourself a favor and go to the truly special restaurant!!"

Jonathan Crossland

"The food was very unique. The names of the dishes sounded familiar, but the combinations of flavors were pairings I never had before. They were artistically put together and a beautiful restaurant. My friend and I ordered the entire menu, which was a suggestion from our waiter. It was a couple thousand pesos. Pretty good value at a Michelin Star restaurant. My favorite dish was the beef in bacon broth and dessert."

Dane Yamashiro

"Completely adorable and relaxingly casual Michelin Star eatery. The staff is very friendly, bilingual, and super helpful. The food is as outstanding as you'd expect. Great combinations of flavors without losing the comfort food vibe.

You definitely need a reservation. They're handled through Open Table or calling the restaurant. Seems like they'll take reservations for about 60 days out so keep an eye on it and book yours as soon as you can."

Where locals eat in Mexico City

In a dark horse moment, Esquina Común was awarded a Michelin star in 2024 and I couldn’t agree more with the award. They have a seasonal menu that highlights the freshest ingredients and some of the best cooking in Mexico City. In their reservation-only dining patio, you will find yourself with only a handful of other diners enjoying dishes like the smoked plantains stuffed with shrimp, coconut and pineapple (with a touch of spice for a kind of aguachile), covered with a crust of provolone cheese and garnished with borage flower and purslane (pictured above).

Equina Común was born out of Ana Dolores González and her partner, Carlos Pérez-Puelles' apartment, an unsanctioned, rabble-rousing, one-dining-room space full of their personal knickknacks and art on the wall. The restaurant is, perhaps, the first clandestine rooftop restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star, last year. González and Pérez-Puelles consistently defy expectations, redefining what a fine dining restaurant 'should' be.
